Excellent recall and very kind of you to share. Superb chap!
After the T/O and turns you get asked direction of Airport without any RMI working and not on map mode either? For landings do they grade on distance at touch down and sink rate? For the Wind Shear do they expect you to talk about use of weather radar? 30/40)50 rule is in regards to what? What specifically do we need to know about the 747-8F? In the Tech quiz do they expect you to describe the architectural structure of your aircraft's engine and its components as well as operational aspects and limitations? Is it a good or bad thing if you declare previous interest in AHK? Cheers My sink rate during SE landing momentarily exceeded 1000 FPM. I wanted to do a GA. Conveyed the same to my examiner. He said, you can continue as it's momentary. Any decision/reason to GA should be convey to the examiner, he would then give his inputs. As far as WS goes, it was primarily based on the supplementary procedure of Adverse WX. WX radar WS alert inhibits were asked as well. Some of the Qs where compiled from SO's who appeared before. Hence the fuel 30/40/50 rule and the B747 Q's which I still haven't been able to find anywhere. Technical quiz for me was based on my current aircraft purely and few miscellaneous topics. For eg: Pick one system and explain. WX radar, Windshear discussion, typhoon, considerations after RTO, brake cooling schedule on the 787 (the A/C I am rated on) and Q's based on flaps drive non-normal C/L. I am sorry I can't comment on declaration of AHK application as I don't have enough information to answer that. Cheers:) |

Sorry if this has been covered before.
Trying to nail down a figure for a DEFO monthly income. Annual HKD 897000 base (774000 after 17% tax) = 62000 a month HKD 20000 monthly allowance (16600 after tax) 62000 + 16600 = HKD 78600 Is that accurate? Are there other allowance/deductions? |

Hi everyone, I have applied for DEFO, completed the DAC form, and had the first online interview. Afterward, I received an email with the medical form and a request for my latest training records, also done. Could someone tell me what to expect in the interview in Hong Kong and in the simulator? Thanks a lot!!!!! :ok:

Do they need a valid Medical on the video interview? How long do you wait for the HKG invitation?

Are allowances outside the salary taxable?

Hong Kong allowance is taxable, IRD sees it as salary. You can claim rental reimbursement if you are renting and it benefits you. Overseas allowances are paid to you retrospectively in HK, in HKD. Whether they are taxed or not depends on your IRD assessor, I've had different results in different tax years.

This question was probably asked already but, i have all the requirements for DEFO except those 500 as P1... Have a full ATPL though and 4000+ hrs. This means I still need to apply for SO? Is SO at Cathay the same as SO at, for example, KLM where you are just a permanent relief pilot? Thank you.
