Heap of Junk

For a company that cares about image why do they leave that heap of junk 340 by the 07R threshold where the punters can see it? Only one engine, no APU, rudder off, part of the tail fin missing, it is a becoming a real eyesore of a Christmas tree!

Baron Captain ? 17th November 2011 06:35

I think it looks great:ok:
Shows just how good our engineering is going lately:D

AAIGUY 17th November 2011 06:56

Pretty ignorant isn't it.. I was paxing the other day
and people were chatting, pointing and photographing it
as we held in line for takeoff on H

SMOC 17th November 2011 06:58

That's easy!

$$$

It's the cheapest option.

Cpt. Underpants 17th November 2011 07:45

It doesn't belong to CX anymore, so it's not CX's problem.

the tail and logo should be painted out, though, I agree.

It's been leased to Aerolineas Argentinas (as have the other 2 ex Boeing A343's) but the new operator needs to flash the cash first.

That stand is the most convenient for long term storage and the "missing" parts have been cannibalized to get the other 2 to flying condition.

She'll be sitting for a while.

geh065 17th November 2011 08:06

Actually the aircraft in question does belong to CX. The three that are going to Aerolineas: two are in XMN and the other is already in their colours parked behind Haeco. The 340 missing bits is because they had to rob it of its parts to put on the Aerolineas planes.

Noddys car 17th November 2011 11:50

were talking about HXF on the M bay next to the holding point...HXK tried to go flying this afternoon, that was the other one

B-HKD 17th November 2011 20:29

-HXM/N/O are the three going to Aerolineas

Cumguzzler 17th November 2011 20:48

WOW... I really thought my life was boring, but after reading this thread I'm no longer so sure.

bekolblockage 18th November 2011 01:37

Should be broken up for scrap like the Ocean Airlines 747 some time back. Its taking up valuable bizjet parking space!!! :E

Anybody counted how many scattered around the airfield lately?

AAIGUY 18th November 2011 17:09

seems this thread is being read by someone with the wherewithal to move the heap of junk and replace with a Aerolines Argy bird.. while still XM is still CX, it doesn't hurt the brand image like XF did rotting away there.

Well done Management lurker.:ok:

geh065 19th November 2011 06:09

They've moved it to face the 07L threshold behind the CASL hangar so no-one will see it!

Baron Captain ? 20th November 2011 01:21

Amazing the power of the "PPRUNE" eh:ok:

Clearly some pea brain paranoid management dufus read this post & moved that piece of crap!!!...So now we can see it in the flare at 07L:}:D

cxorcist 20th November 2011 03:38

Did they really not know how bad that heap looked all these weeks? Right there where all the pax could see. Please tell me they have more SA than that...

B-HKD 21st November 2011 14:43

I wonder if Aerolineas has come up with the $$$ yet....

They currently have two A342s grounded in LIRF/FCO with overdue landing gear MX. The are way overdue with the 25,000 hour overhaul for the landing gears. One aircraft being at 36,000 hours and the other at 41,000 hours since the last gear overhaul.

Another class act operation

Ex Douglas Driver 22nd November 2011 03:23

As of this morning it's back at the original spot in plain view near the 07R threshold.
