I would still take a pay cut to go to V Aus.

Aus base .......224,000 AUD plus PF = 258,720 for a senior Capt.

So WHY would I consider V Aus over a basing?

I'm not that keen to stay on the 777!! I could take a bus.

V Aus will need to pay more to get my vote.

AND they need to disclose a few other little details: roster, manning levels, staff travel benefits, basings etc etc.

I crunched my numbers ( 13th month, travel fund, education allowance etc ) and to summarise the result in AUD:

HKG after TAX $181,000
CX AUS BASE after TAX $134,000
V AUS after TAX $114,000

So staying in HK is still the better bet because of 1/the expat allowances on top of the basic salary and 2/ the lower Tax, however I didn't factor the cost of living in HKG, which must be considerable.

Hong Kong is expensive mate, But Sydney isnt much cheaper!!!

Saying that im not sure if V Aus will be based out of Syd.
