This impotent Union will never sucessfully negotiate a payrise without considerable sacrifice to the members. Instead of your useless proxy every month, vote with your feet!!

Mr. Bloggs 27th April 2007 07:58

Hostile23. Agreed, but to take it further.

If the Committee Members were to actually become more aggressive, CX will still tell them to get stuffed. The AOA would say “work to rule” or “contract compliance” or whatever. At that point everyone will run for cover not wanting to be the next 49er.

You see, it’s not the Union; it’s the pilots that make up the union.

The Committee members know this and negotiate accordingly.

Our conditions will continue to deteriorate (look at the current Re-threads working for less that B-Scale) until we are all down to the Air China conditions.

Very few will ever vote with their feet. It’s the devil you know sort of stuff.

Good luck with it all and Happy Flying.

CX

Wow, I thought the grass was usually greener on the other side. But I guess not. I know a couple of fellas who were just hired by CX for the DEFO NA. And they were soooo excited to start class and their new career with CX. I just hope they don't read this and other similar threads - might get discouraged. However, this forum and the wannabe one seemed to have been super helpful in assisting a lot of pilots prepare for their interviews and a slight peek at their prospective new career with CX.

How about ANA's contract pilot deals? Are any guys leaving for it? I read the FO's are paid US$11-12k/month and Capts. US$14-16k/month to start on the 767's for 5 years + bonus at completion.

Very interesting read guys. I hope for the best. You guys work your *ss off to keep the company on top and the management treat you like s#*t it seems. From what I've read on other threads, you guys should not demand nothing less than an industry-leading contract and pay.

Good luck. Just my 2 cents.

Another S/O has apparantly left just now. Resigning with 4 days notice and leaving the uniform at Vogue - ha.. Class!

Apparantly going to stay at home and fly business jets - less pay - more fun - an no CX bull!!!! to put up with.
Yes the numreos are on the rise.. :D

mmm, almost as good as one of the guys who left recently during line training who said not a word but laid his uniform out on the bed in the hotel, arranged his manuals etc neatly in the room, packed his bag and flew back to US to join UPS...............................beautifully done.

Sizematters

You're kidding?!

hostile23 28th April 2007 13:42

You just gotta love that one! Great stuff.......

AAIGUY 28th April 2007 13:53

WOW.. That guy is my Hero.

That's leaving with Style.

There are a fair number of folk on the UK base with resignation letters at the ready in case this doesn't get sorted out by the end of June. In fact the last chap I spoke to said he'd be resigning in May to give a bit of a buffer with an Oct 1st deadline and 3 months notice . It would be a shame to lose 40% of one's provident fund to the tax man on one stroke just beacause you got caught by a few days!

When they start parking aircraft due to lack of crew, more than a few heads will roll.

When that happens, wages, retention bonuses, conditions etc will suddenly improve. But until that happens, the company will fall over themselves to pretend that it is "operations normal".

Rumour has it that the three seat freighters are now in a perilous position and will fold first. There is a lot of fancy footwork going on to hide it from the powers that be.

Watch this space...

I have picked up on that too.

sizematters 18th May 2007 12:05

well lets hope rostering/crewing keep up the good work !!

nice to know they are helping the cause............!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitsune 23rd May 2007 08:17

At a recent Fleet Forum Kelvin was alleged to have said that the 'line in the sand' for the Classic freighters was as follows:

1 CF6 leaves 3rd quarter 2008

2 CF6 leave third quarter 2009

3 D4 freighters leave end 2011

1 Classic may have to be parked this summer due to the exodus of F/Es resigning/retiring as a result of the tax fiasco

How or whether this affects KA was not discussed, but I have a horrible feeling that the KA 747 is going to 'Ogilvied' before becoming HKG based Asia only........
