Jumpseating on Cathay

I'll be traveling from New York to Vancouver in about a week. Does Cathay take jumpseaters on those flights, or do I need to get an ID90? If you do take jumpseaters, what is the drill? Do I need to list, or can I just show up at the counter? Thanks

CX jumpseat may only be released to CX staff, parents & children of CX staff but not siblings. Unfortunately it's very restrictive however I'm not so sure it's all CXs doing I believe HKCAD set some pretty tough guidelines after 9/11. :ugh:

what about a seat in the back?

If you mean ID90 then should be OK. As far as I know CX is just like any other major airline re ID travel.

My friend did it once flying with his dad on the A346...:)

Cathay as no rights to take passengers from the US to Canada. So an ID90 or ZED ticket will not work.

Not true! I have personally travelled this route several times over the years on an ID90.:)

Why a wonder? It's a great money making route for CX selling JFK/YVR.

Aparently the JFK - YVR v.v. route came about when United got the rights to go beyond Hong Kong. I do not believe United even use their part of the deal any more.

It's a wonder because I didn't know about that! :) I just looked at the CX timetable and... there it was.

In fact CX has the only first class product between NY and YVR, and thats whats makes all the money. Usually a few celebs on board filming something in YVR.

Guys, too lazy to do a little research? Go to CX website and you will find one can make reservation for JFK to YVR. Econ, Busn and 1st.
Here is my question: Is the best thing you can get is a ID90? No free flying (in the back or not) like we do in the US?

Correct...not even for CX employees! CX does have one of the worst employee travel packages going.:(
