HK Express Second Officer Recruitment
Anyone is interested?
Does anyone have any clue on the PAY SCALE for UO 2nd officer? Not much information can be found online. Qualifications: - HKCAD CPL Holder issued under HKCAD Approved Integrated Course - Valid HK Permanent ID Holder I guess more local airlines (HX, UO.....) may start preparing to accept graduates from HKIAA cadet pilot program, any thoughts? Many Thanks! |
hello, I applied about a week ago
|
Great to hear that and wish you good luck!
Do you have any ideas on its remuneration package? Tried to contact HKE, Flygosh and do some research online but in vain.... Just want to understand it for reference. Many Thanks! |
“ Pay scale “ …… I think this might be one of those ‘ if you have to ask you can’t afford it! ‘ type deals! ;-)

How can you be an SO on an A320?
Seriously nobody should sign up for this, this is why T&C’s are in the toilet. You would be flying as an FO getting SO pay. There will only be 2 pilots on board, a captain and an FO. I suppose you will be buying your type rating as well. |
That is very good advice
|
It did exist when Cathay dragon (KA) was still there.
Once you graduated from KA cadet program you would be SO but trained for FO's job tasks (including takeoff and landing). Your rank was still SO but getting FO pay. It might or might not be the case for HKE but I just wanna to ask and know about it. Moreover, no one needs to buy his/her type rating for joining any CPL250 posts in Hong Kong. You might be confused with some other SE Asian airlines.

The CX SOs whom have asked to transfer to HKE are doing it to log some front seat time. Once they have a chunk they are out of here. Another dumb idea from CX which wont work as planned.

As regular SLF, it’s getting frickin scary who is up front these days.
How many have hand flown an aircraft in IMC on limited panel?? Probably even more scary, how many have hand flown an aircraft (not simulator) full stop?!! |

Just curious, in CX, the SO can only fly above 20k feet I think, and mostly does fuel checks. What would the SO do at HK Express?
Also, the local bus firms are hiring for up to 31k / month. Would UO SO make that level? |

How scared are you if you're flying with them regularly? How do you know who is up the front? How do you know their experience, qualifications, or if/when, they have flown limited panel? Are you as equally concerned about the abilities of the Cabin Crew? Engineers? Sounds to me like someone's a bit bitter about something... |
Recruitment demand has been slightly reduced, as they have written an aircraft off from a heavy landing. It is parked by HAECO without engines. Spar bent. Never to fly again.
This on top of the 2 CX A330s with broken gear due heavy landing and the 2 CX A321 with written off landing gear due heavy landing and the A321 with a tail strike. This is what happens when you take pilots with no real experience, push them through a quick course on the cheapest sims (crap visuals) one can get away with then put them out in the real world. Where is CAD in all of this? |
The CAD is controlled by CX... If the CAD is continually punishing a CX group airline, it shows lack of respect on the part of CX and a lack of supervision or control on the part of the CAD.
No need for the CAD anymore, CAAC takes over and CX becomes another mainland carrier. Alternatively, off the record, from one former HFO to another, please be careful of this and that.. and everyone remains status quo.. |
If CX would control CAD we would not have 4 pilots on long haul flights. Complete BS, as is the fairy tail about the damaged CX 330's

As I know SO at short haul flights airlines (e.g. UO and HX) will sit at the right seat directly and conducting take-off and landing. Solid flying experience will be gained but you should expect a very packed roster with many turnaround flights. Not sure for the pay of UO SO, may be something around 30-40k. Any thoughts? |

Are you on the Bus? Did you see the spin from the fleet office that some 330s LG was damaged by runway undulations? If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale. Two 330s suffered damage to their gear from heavy landings on training flights. One of these involved a management pilot who is out of her depth in the Fleet Office. |
So just to be clear……
KA who were flying their 330’s into this particular airport with a slight down slope on one runway for years and years and years without incident, but a CX manager blames the same slope and runway for their heavy landing???? Sounds legit. It’s the runway’s fault not his/hers. b. |
Do SOs sit next to the captain in during flight? If so, why would they hire SO instead of FO? Where would the FO sit during flight?
What is the current wait time to promote from SO to FO? |
So any idea what it is like to work as a SO fo HKE? Do you know if you can apply if you have an EASA/ UK FATPL?
|
Hello!
Is there any successful pilot who would be able to share some experience for the interview process? Many thanks! |
