Perhaps ask that question of the jellyfish as he had to go though the course twice before being deemed competent, allegedly. And if so should be more up to date on the details than most.

In the mean time the flight deck resembles more and more a conference room where pilots are sharing comments about their interviews at other airlines or what date is their last day at cx. Not a hint of regret on their faces by the way.
Wonder if our brilliant managers realised what they have done. Throw away thousands of dollars, manpower, resources etc. for what? Manage to piss off an entire and essential part of your company. Great achievements, well done cretins.

My FO on Sunday...showing me his email from Qantas congratulating him on being hired. And so it goes....

Positionalpor : I hate to say it, but I firmly believe they just don’t care ,or simply do not have the capacity to grasp the magnitude of the situation that is about to engulf them until there are airframes parked all over CLK .
At the present time flights are going on schedule so in their eyes everything is fine . Unfortunately There are none so blind as those who do not wish to see .

Shep69 3rd Jul 2018 22:53

All part of the master plan.

"I see you've reduced operating costs by over 10 percent, Ms. Blonde. Well done ! We've been trying to do that for years. If you don't mind my asking, how did you do it ?"

"Easy you silly goose -- I just went out and fired a bunch of those expensive pilots."

"Well, if you got rid of the pilots, who's going to fly the airplanes ?"

"Airplanes ?"

The Cost

Had a walk through the mail room after my last flight. 249 "R"s on mail boxes !!
It's only the first week of July........

I wonder if Swire even knows that the head of Qantas pilot recruitment was until a couple of months ago the cx pilot recruitment manager. What a joke this piece of Swire conglomerate has become, I'm loathed to call it an airline.

Hope she's fast tracking cx applications, good luck so those lucky to be leaving this sinking ship.

Flex88,

Whoa... Hold the phone!!

Are you saying the company are dumb enough to put an "R" on the mailbox of people that have resigned? Are these people who have resigned and left the company or people serving their notice, or both? Seriously, did you count 249 "Rs" or is this a wind-up?

Must be a wind-up, pilots can't count to 249 without taking off their shoes and socks.

positionalpor 5th Jul 2018 17:45

Just wait for the ARAPA deal and the basing review to be announced and you will see 249 R in a month

249, count em yourself.. I think retirement and resignation all get same R..

Good grief, “249” or “159”....is anyone arguing that the floodgates haven’t opened? I suspect that the worlds major airline recruiting departments are about to owe CX management a debt of gratitude. The only real TTW will be those same airlines. 👍

TurningFinalRWY36 6th Jul 2018 02:17

Isn't it obvious though. Management would rather downsize the airline before they concede. The 330s will go, 777s are being returned, there won't be a crewing crisis.

Farman Biplane 6th Jul 2018 05:13

Every pilot that leaves is replaced with one on a lower pay scale/increment. This is all the accountants aim for.
Never mind the training/upgrade costs, they are cheap when amortised over the forecast career.
This is why the training ban is effective, regardless of cost, they cannot train replacements if they have no trainers. That said, I am surprised the accountants have not contracted A and B and others for training services as a package with buying their shiny jets.
Every retiree and resignation is seen as a cost saving by the accountants. They don’t even have to do anything to take the credit!

I hope as part of the settlement with the union that the company refunded all the fees / money the union spent on the case.

This is an important point. It wasn’t just the company lawyers who hit gold with this fiasco, the AOA also had to pay hefty legal bills in 2 countries. Each and every AOA member is significantly out of money due to the company’s ineptitude.
The good news is, full refunds are available, with interest. Collect yours next time you go to work. There are numerous ways of doing this.

Perfectly said. The old tried and always failed colonial attitude and standard practice. Incompetence being the most core characteristic of the management teams and individuals running this joint, at all levels. Back to the original subject, they treat us all like sh!t. Even if they now somehow treat us all equally, it still leaves a lot to be desired. People are not commodities. They're the heart of the organization, whether it's a commercial or military organization. This lesson has been learned the hard way periodically in human history since the ancient times and yet these geniuses running this organization insist on learning lessons the hard way, the stupid way, from their own mistakes and they fail at even that low level of learning.

I sat thru 45 minutes of RH giving his pep talk speech during fleet forum recently. For 45 minutes of talking (...and at times whispering) he talked all about the strategic and tactical challenges, competition, fleet deployments and market forces and pressures etc. basically how we face challenges in business terms. The man never once used the word People, never mind Our People. Never once said how unless we all stand behind the company's efforts, we won't succeed. Like our help or good will doesn't matter or is just assumed. Not even a fake display of people skills or leadership charisma. That's how out of touch and clueless of a leaders we have here, top to bottom. Exceptions are too few and far in between. Without our good will and effort, nothing they attempt will work. This basic fact is badly lost of them. They have no idea how high the level of bad will is among the employees and how much money it's costing the company every single day.

Rumours circulating that a matter of months left before there aren't enough STCs to continue with normal operations, CAD to (finally) intervene??

Unfortunately the CAD are civil servants with no clue what to do, they'll simply ask cx and take their recommendations.

VforVENDETTA 8th Jul 2018 03:47

The HKCAD is not a real regulatory agency. Their reputation is well established at rock bottom in this regard. Good luck to anyone thinking otherwise.

Are slots at risk if flights are continuously cancelled ?
