Repost from another thread:

This is the sort of nefarious behaviour that I love to see being committed by CX management. They think they are being 'clever', but all they do is help reinforce what a corrupted, venal and ultimately doomed group of losers they really are. In a proper first world environment (hello HK Govt, you are anything but), this sort of bs could not happen. The only way CX can function is in this third world polluted hellhole where the rule of law is a joke at best. That is why the only threat to conditions is being made against HK pilots, and not those on bases. HK is the only place their tactics have a hope of working without transgressing every labour law worth the name. In any event, Longreach will use this to their advantage, as a gentle reminder to all who they speak to of the facts of life in HK , which will only help their case of attracting many more CX/KA pilots. No matter what tactics CX employs, their panic is evident, and the exodus begins. This has just shown how panicked they really are. Anna and Rupert have made yet another strategic blunder.

Frogman1484 23rd Oct 2017 19:17

Cathay has just blinked, they are panicking that the senior pilots do leave en mass. The do not have the training capacity to train and they know they will park jets if we leave. This also tells you that they cannot give you a sign or get fired letter, as they cannot afford to lose their crews.
It would be interesting to find out what legal action they threatened Longreach with.

Brilliant move. TTW at its very best.

Im thinking this strategery came from the cunning fuel hedge team.

I can't wait to see what's next.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Does CX management seriously think this will be a POSITIVE for them? All it does is reinforce in everyone's mind what a malicious group they work for. Another impetus to make the break and find a better company to dedicate a career towards. A better confirmation of the resignation rate spiraling out of control I would be challenged to find. And Anna, have you not heard of the INTERNET? You know, the medium that Longreach can happily correspond all day every day with your pilots. Unbelievable. Reminds me of the buggy whip salesmen when the car started to appear... :ooh:

Apple Tree Yard 23rd Oct 2017 21:26

I up vote Dan's comment. AOA, there is NO need to negotiate anything, especially not concessions. Let them cut, and see how that only accelerates the exodus from CX. I'm ok with that. Don't play the game by their rules.

Air Profit 23rd Oct 2017 21:32

Agreed. Anna, go ahead and try cutting my housing and pension. You WILL be having another resignation on your Training Managers desk. I'm not staying in HK without the package I was lured to HK on. Anything less and i'm gone. Not a bluff, not negotiable. I've already made up my mind. Just waiting for you to jump off that cliff once and for all. The fact that nowhere in any of your rhetoric is there mention of YOU and your fellow managers taking the first cuts says everything about your integrity that needs saying. I have to wonder what it is like being someone without morals, conscience or integrity? All I see are the results. As for the Longreach issue: you people are pathetic, and your panic is evident, and palpable.

Some How I'm Tired 23rd Oct 2017 21:54

I think that the Managing Director of Longreach was probably threatened with termination for 'acting against the best interests of CX'. He is a CX pilot.

Air Profit 23rd Oct 2017 22:25

I don't understand. CX has be 'best' package in the industry, so why would it matter if a recruitment company had a road show? Surely CX is happy to have their package stand on it's merits. sarc

goathead 23rd Oct 2017 22:28

Would he let that be worrying him?
With several hundred +++ And the the fact the event was over subscribed surely he would be would be thinking about the big picture here.....

And as for the BA and Qantas roadshows are they off now as well?

Air Profit 23rd Oct 2017 23:03

Just another sign of abject panic. Same as with the "Drinks for 'Cargo' Pilots". Same as with the meet and greet for Trainers. It all clearly demonstrates that our management are crap@ing themselves. They thought they would have a go, and now it has triggered an armageddon in their crew retention numbers. The floodgates have just cracked open and nothing will stop the exodus. Too many CX crew have concluded that there is NO hope of a career in HK. They are making plans to secure a seniority number elsewhere. Nice one Anna.

Emirates also considering a roadshow to HK. Not a good option for all, but certainly would be for some. Right time, right place, right move.

I have a feeling it has something to do with work visa like that Hidden Agenda case few mths ago.... Rmb few months ago, Hidden Agenda - a mini concert hosting company, was shut down because the gov claimed they were hosting concerts - commercial events, in non-approved location which was against the use of building and the performers have no valid work visa and were subsequently arrested by immigration?

Trafalgar 24th Oct 2017 01:27

That will be easy to get around (although personally I suspect CX has a hand in this). Just hire some HK residents to manage the event. Sorted.

Certainly agree with the part in red, they were probably the one who called Immi.....

It can be dealt with easily but probably not when it gets shut down at the last minute, the person who speaks on stage will just likely to be similar to a performer, someone who needs a work visa to be safe as this event is kinda 'business' related, and how fast the hk gov can do things when it comes to last minute stuff is something you and I both know;)

Who stole my meds 24th Oct 2017 01:42

Have the roadshow in Macau.
It's only an hour ferry ride away. Wouldn't be that inconvenient would it??

The FUB 24th Oct 2017 02:33

To quote from the CX DFO

"If you're only here for the benefits, there are better places to be."

As you desperately want the expensive, greedy pilots to leave.

If you want us to go so badly, why cancel the Longreach Roadshow?

Air Profit 24th Oct 2017 03:35

The pathetic, and very telling part of that quote from Anna is that SHE is here for the pay and benefits, she just doesn't want anyone else to have the same. Hypocrite of the highest order. :yuk:
