KA"s Management Excess
Cathay Dragon, ( or if you like, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines) has the most ridiculous and bloated aircrew management structure anywhere, period. How many pilot managers? How many aircrew ?
Unbelievable. The low cost competition must be laughing all the way to the bank. I mean, what a joke, a fallacy, an abhorrent and self serving organisation. No wonder it reject JetStar. No wonder it thinks itself so Here we go, deep breath.... DIRECTOR OPERATIONS MANAGER LINE OPERATIONS MANAGER FLYING TRAINING CHIEF PILOT AIRBUS MANAGER OPERATIONAL SERVICES MANAGER GROUP EFFICIENCY FLYING MANAGER QUALITY ASSURANCE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY GENERAL MANAGER FLYING MANAGER AIRCREW & GROUND SERVICES MANAGER AIRCREW MANAGER GROUND SERVICE & CARGO MANAGER AIRCREW PERSONNEL MANAGER CREW RESOURCES FLIGHT CREW RELATIONS MANAGER TECHNICAL MANAGER AIRBUS DEPUTY CHIEF PILOT AIRBUS DEPUTY CHIEF PILOT AIRBUS ( this is NOT a typo, we have 2 DCPA) FLEET TECHNICAL OFFICER FLEET TECHNICAL PILOT MANAGER FLYING TRAINING FLYING TRAINING MANAGER A330 FLYING TRAINING MANAGER A320 FLYING TRAINING MANAGER STANDARDS MANAGER GROUND TRAINING DEPUTY FLYING TRAINING MANAGER AIRBUS DEPUTY FLYING TRAINING MANAGER STANDARDS DEPUTY MANAGER LINE OPERATIONS LINE OPERATIONS MANAGER (1) LINE OPERATIONS MANAGER (2) LINE OPERATIONS MANAGER (3) ASSISTANT MANAGER QUALITY ASSURANCE - OPS QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITOR - OPS MANAGER GROUP SAFETY MANAGER SECURITY HEAD OF ENGINEERING MANAGER AIRLINE PLANNING MANAGER FLEET TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER ISD MANAGER PEOPLE AIRCREW ASSISTANT MANAGER PEOPLE AIRCREW Phew, im outta breath. What a joke. What low productivity. What is the point? |
"MANAGER PEOPLE AIRCREW"
Does that infer that you also have aircrew that are not people? |
CX has another 20 pilot managers to add the the group.
I think Qantas has something like 5. |
Yes, and the one manager at CX who should be a pilot (DFO) isn't. You can't make this  up.
|
If I interview there, will I need to know the names of all?
|
Our last pilot DFO didn't exactly do us too many favours.
|
Roughly one manager per aircraft! They must be overloaded with work.
|
Only those who have yet to learn the Swire creed would be perplexed by this management structure.
"Control at all costs and bugger the expense." Not much point in having thousands of minions without dozens of kapos demonstrating they know best how to herd cats. Time to Win and remember RETI. One of those kapos is watching!! (At least!) |
CX has a very similar structure including...
MANAGER FLT CREW SVC DELIVERY FLT CREW SVC DELIVERY MGR MANAGER INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS MGR FLT CREW EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER FOP STRATEGIC PLANNING ICM BUSINESS READINESS MANAGER OPERATIONS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER MGR A/C PERF & FLT EFFICIENCY And last but not least we have a CHANGE MANAGER (if you don't believe me check IntraCX) |
MANAGER SENIORITY LIST MERGER?
|
No need for that one, save cost and add dpa under cx, easy and done.
|
Meetings must be interesting, how do they get anything done? Oh wait...
How many aircraft in the fleets? |
Maybe they are just sending a message to everyone saying - look, we may not have the same size of fleet as Cathay does but when it comes to our staffs, we are still there!
|
HKALPA are looking pretty daft asking for IFALPA help with a training ban when KA pilots are certainly going to continue to train CX pilots. I hear that the DPA wasn't consulted.
CX don't have a ban on training either only on entering training. Hypocrites. |
Management positions CX
Everybody forgot the relatively new position created under our current DFO
"Chief Pilot Training"(CPT) ❗️❗️where the current incumbent is a widely respected and massively experienced advisor to DFO....:yuk::yuk: |
After all the hubaloo about efficiencies, managerial re organisation, at KA its business as usual. SO FAR, the only casualties are :
1) manager aircrew and ground services - been given until Dec 31st 2017. Hardly urgent. Plenty of time to move to HKA. 2) DO is retiring. As a non flying DFO, the smirking hyena should have gone years ago. 3) Manager Aircrew. Thats it. Still 39 aircrew managers for 46 aircraft. Well managed then. Proof that more is indeed less where managers are concerned. |
I think I see the problem, not enough Assistant Managers, all Chiefs and no Indians. By the look of it Dragons also missing chart Managers and missing chart Managers.
