If you want a lifestyle in Europe you'd be nuts not to work your but off and get this. You'll be working for Air China by the end of your career if you stay. I would of given my left nut to of had this opportunity and in my youth.

380 DEFO
Mate of mine, a trainer on the 380, says they are looking for at least 20 DEFO on the 380, great lifestyle.
Recently 320 commands have been going to pilots with only 18 months in BA. Good luck to the young uns! Quote: Based on feedback we have received from friends and colleagues in the Hong Kong area, we understand that getting to and from the UK to undertake selection can be difficult with the busy rosters all are flying. To this end, as well as continuing to offer our traditional selection process in the UK, we are also offering the initial testing session and group exercise to be conducted in Hong Kong on the same dates as our roadshows. These are separate to the roadshow and will be treated as a formal part of the selection process, so please dress and prepare accordingly. |
I love it!

HMRC brothers
Nobody will be going ANYWHERE. Wait and see, you guys ever heard of the great ol' HMRC???? Nobody will be leaving.
|
That would be a completely stupid reason to stay at CX. What? Choke on life altering pollution for decades to avoid a bigger tax bill. Want to live in a "civilized" country? Then pay your damn taxes. Don't like paying high taxes? Elect some hard-line conservatives to slash and burn a bloated government that cannot even afford a decent military to protect the country. Oh right, that's America's job. Perhaps the UK is beyond the point of no return wrt the mental illness that is social liberalism.
|
Some things are worth the price.
Sure, taxes are cheap in HK. But you get what you pay for. |
Unfortunately many have been drinking the CX cool aid too long and will believe they are superior pilots that will just stroll into the job.
Q: Why do you want to work for BA? A: Because I dont want to work for CX. Will remain miserable in CX & HK for a lifetime. |
They've been recruiting for a while. It's pretty depressing that guys can't be bothered getting to the UK and have to wait until roadshow comes here.

CX isn't the only airline in the area. And some will do anything and everything for this opportunity.
Plus CC have a mandate to not allow swaps that result in a G on the 16th |
Quite a few have already interviewed...but not many have made it passed stage 1...
I suspect BA are looking for S/FOs rather than the plethora of J/FOs and F/Os that have applied. Still - apply - never know unless the application is submitted. As Silberfuchs says...it is a no brainer |
Completely agree with everyone here, though unless I'm confused, there's still one big roadblock for most.
"The unrestricted right to live and work in the UK" I'm not sure what rights HK locals have with regards to living in the UK, but the last time I looked Aus/NZ/Can citizens need to be sponsored buy an approved organisation. Can anyone confirm whether BA will do this? |
Unfortunately. unless BA can prove there is not suitable EU passport holders applying for the job then as I understand it BA can't sponsor anybody
|
What qld330 said.
The general BA position is here: httphttp://www.britishairways.com/careers/faq.shtml Under "Can residents overseas apply..." (sorry can't cut and paste the relevant bit). Basically as a company policy they don't sponsor except in exceptional circumstances and then they follow UK Home Office guidelines. I suspect unless there's a very strong business case (lack of EU passport holders applying) they won't do it. |
Bugger... I got the right to live... but not the licence.
If I had the licence, the door wouldn't have time to hit me in the ass.... Got some work to do! |
You don't need a license only prove that you could get one before commencing employment.
BTW - I'd like to thank all of you for holding firm during CC, for the first time they have started an accounting system to measure lost revenues as a result of OTP and such. Keep it up guys. Another idea, lets all go in to the fleet office and get our logbooks certified, better still ask Anna for a reference letter. If we do this in bulk before the road show it'll have great effect. If you not working then let's make a bee line and have a listen big numbers will make a statement. |
Is it possible to just go to the roadshow and just see what green grass looks like? Ie the jobs not an option but I'd like to see a professional outfit at work.
