The Initial interview is a HR interview with a logbook and license check. If all goes well invites go out for the follow up interview, which is the technical part. You'll be doing a sim on the same day if things haven't changed. Good luck!

DEFO joined Dec 15 and quit May 16
Only when feet on the ground realised package not good enough to live in Hong Kong. He left to go to Emirates. |
This is what happens when an airline is run by greedy, incompetent and self serving people. The ones making the decisions to employ pilots without the necessary financial support to live comfortably are themselves the very people enjoying the highest housing allowance, salaries, benefits and bonuses in the company. The mention of how you were treated during your interview (economy class tickets, no hotel etc) is, as you correctly surmise, evidence of how little they value you and how they would have treated you going forward. Good decision in the end to decide not to come. It would have proved unworkable. Best wishes for the future.

For me HK is not a place for expats on a non expat package. |
And how many good to average pilots have they sacked from a failed PC?
|
That has absolutely nothing to do with your original post.
What's your point? |

What's your point? There is one A320 dinosaur who during command training purposely loves to miss radio calls and get frequencies wrong to catch out the guy being trained and starts stopwatches when small things are missed in order to tell the LHS trainee he missed the cockpit door unlocked light for XX:XX minutes. That was British Midland style in the 1980's but not modern aviation!! New joiner beware. It appears there is an invisible blacklist somewhere |

Lets look at it another way.
How many local pilots , hk chinese to be exact, who have joined since 1990 ( yep last 26 years) have been made trainers? Yep zero. Diddley squat. Funny for an airline so intent on localising the flight crew. The expat incumbents used the simulator PC check to low ball score the one chinese guy who had volunteered for training, so as he no longer could apply for training due to now unacceptable grades. Dispicable. Tell me im wrong ? |

Numbers? What are the facts how many DEFO havent made it in the last 5 years? How about the last 10?

Can some of the perspective interviewees give some idea of their (his/her) experience levels ?
Thanks, Oz2 |
How long does it normally take to get an interview invite....
|
How long?
If you have 5000 hours and jet time with an Airbus rating.... I would say some time next week!
|
Wow ! That would be smart with many C scale guys preferring an exit over command opportunities at KA.

I hear that with the decline of the Hong Kong government housing index, which allowances are now based on, the "C" Scale housing "supplement" is to be reduced inline with that of the "B" scale guys?
Not by a similar amount in $$$ but back to ( or below ) the previous level of HK$20000. Any one heard similar? It doesn't make sense particularly When the TA had an increase in HKPA for CX. |
Won't happen

Hi has anyone else been invited to the initial interview in Melb in Jan?
|
sorry to be an ignorant, is it really HK nationals are allowed to work for airlines in HK such as CX? As i understand it's quite common where, families and friends of certain individuals other nationals to get opportunities i.e. cadets, etc? Or is it too sensitive of a subject to talk about?

Many moons ago I did an initial interview with a little short guy and Chinese lady who were all perfectly nice until the little guy started with the needle type questions. It was all very comedic, classic good cop/bad cop, or the KA version.
When Mr bad cop asked me when I would be available for a sim assessment, I asked him a question in return "is everyone at KA aware of your personal short comings?" Madam Chinese gave a short snort, bad cop short bald guy turned a peculiar shade of purple and I noted that his cateroid artery began to pulse. At that point I terminated the interview and skipped out the door having had a lucky escape :} I've often wondered if the little short tw@t died prematurely due to one of the chips on his shoulders falling off and causing him to topple over and bang his bald head. |
could anyone shed some light on the ICAO test?
How does the role play part work? Are the test close to the samples? |
