Anyone know why the good Dr has left??
Seems Dr C has left in a hurry.......
Anyone know why? Bit of a shame, he was a great chap. |
Maybe they did not like his stance on the issue of Fatigue in the company!
If I recall correctly he was heading the committee . He probably did not fit into the current model ! |
No doubt that is correct. He is a good man who sees the everyday effects of CX rosters. He will be missed. I sure enjoyed seeing him once a year. Godspeed Doc!
|
I agree. Great Dr. No doubt that it has something to do with fatigue managment.
|
Hear hear.
Farewell Doc. Hope greener pastures await. |
Probaby contract renewal and wouldn't accept the new terms. I have been rescheduled with Dr Y and certainly will be going to TST instead. The man is dangerous and a complete idiot. I also dislike someone who bats that way holding my testicles.
|
Cathay will eventually reap what they sow. Job with the CAD on expat terms would be sweet (he was offered local terms after 55 - that's why he left). Good chap but I don't have a problem with any of the others either.
|
I don't think it was his birthday:confused:
|
Heard it was not mutual as he was escorted out of the building. Apparently PH was involved in the abrupt departure of our good Dr. Would be interesting to hear the true story what actually happened.
|
Next on PH list to escort out of the building are CP 777 and CP 747 apparently. As I said, they will reap what they sow sometime soon.
|
Whatever the reason for his departure he is a decent man and as a pilot group it is our loss.
|
I hope the good Doctor departed on good terms, however it seems unusual to have a NTC announcing he had departed the day before and detailing the rapid rescheduling of his appointments. Doesn't sound like an amicable parting of the ways.
I would guess his ability to perform HKCAD medicals is independent of his employment with Cathay. Wouldn't it be amusing if he set up an Office in opposition to CX Medical Department and held his position within CAD. I thought he was decent chap. |
Can all readers try any leads they have to get him to read this thread. Whilst we can't post his Email Address here, if he came on himself we could PM and I for another would like to pass on my thanks and best wishes, not to mention visit the practice he should setup in HKG - Are you there Doc? Give us a clue :-)
|
Indeed, a great guy and a loss to most of us, and also the company, how very shortsighted of them.
If you read this doc, thanks for being a level headed sounding board and a voice of reason. I wish you well. If you do stay in HK, try and make it known where you go to, so we can get quality annual Medicals. Our lady doc is ok, but I'd worry I'd let the side down at the wrong time, and the other bloke holds on just a bit too long for my liking. So Doc, we'll miss you, good luck wherever you go. |
I'm on the case
We have a mutual contact - I'm awaiting a reply.
|
A true gentleman and he will be sorely missed.
If there is a Farewell Drinks, you'd better find a big venue as I suspect droves will turn up. I'll certainly be there!:ok: |
Ditto by 10. Sad loss.:(
|
Another caring award in the offerings perhaps?
|
Please remember that safety is our No1 priority!!!!
Bullsh1T. If you are reading Doc...It was a pleasure making your acquaintance. CX at it's best again. :=:=:=:=:=:ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh: |
As an outsider......what is the schedule like at CX. I assume certain aircraft are better than others.
Obviously long haul flights are difficult but for shorter flights, is there consideration to prevent swinging back and forth from night to day and back or is it just an all over the place kind of schedule. |
You need to view the safety vid listen more carefully. It says; "...as safety is our priority...." (which has no meaning at all)
It does not say"...as safety is our number one priorty....". Interesting that they would deliberately miss out the "number one" bit isn't it? |
This all seems to have a striking similarity to when "the submariner" was escorted off the premises a few years ago. I seem to recall he pinned a notice on the crew room noticeboard explaining a small reluctance to bow to CMD who were allegedly" piling on the pressure.....surely it couldn't have happened again....

You need to view the safety vid listen more carefully. It says; "...as safety is our priority...." (which has no meaning at all) I am afraid I am not repeating the safety video, just the line the bosses frequently write in the weekly telex. |
John M. , Ravi, now RC. Trend?
Oh, R.O. still around? |
DFO blandly states on 7th Dec that the Medical Department will be short staffed for the next few months!
Our understanding is appreciated! Priority given to Based pilots and those actually needing to fly. What are they doing???:O |
Its obvious. Cathay Pacific is run by Quality Health Care. All other departments are subordinate to them regardless of any costs incurred.
|
Hello Robert,
You have been so supportive over the years, so much so that I would not be here now without your kind, generous and thoroughly professional attitude towards your job. You helped me tremendously through some of the most difficult times of my life. I know you were constantly fighting CMD and that RO is a thorn in the side of all of us. Please be assured you are thoroughly respected and having known you since you arrived I can say without reservation that no one has ever said a bad word about you except these people we work for. Please ensure that someone gets the word out as to where you will practice and your contact details as you will be my AME henceforth. Anyone reading this please PM me Roberts contact details. |
Second coming
Appropriate Xmas gift for the pilot who has everything:
The good doc will still be doing crew medicals in HK next year. Heard from a pal that he will be joining Vio & Partners in TST in the NY along with every bodies favorite av doc. :) Can't keep a good man down! Welcome back doc. |
Good news indeed. I shall be booking a medical in TST in January :ok:
|
Excellent news, I hope it is true.
He will certainly be my first point of call for an AvMed renewal, not because he is a soft touch, but because he is the consummate professional. See you in Jan/Feb. |
Count me in too...solid man and a bloody good MD.
|
So do we know the reason yet for his rapid dismissal?
|
And if we did, do you really think we'd post it here ??:ugh:
|
So Jacobus do you know?
|
I refer you to my previous post..this is not the place for it....there is plenty of INFORMED discussion on the AOA forums...:D:D
|
So in other words you don't know! :ugh:
|
Froggy,
Not a union member? How un-French of you... No wonder you don't work for AF. Cheers. |

Glad to hear we are on the same team! |
