If I had a family member or close friend going for a serious op I would not be fit to work. I wouldn't even waste my time with the 3rd floor.

The Messiah 9th May 2012 01:11

I've never heard of the company saying no to compassionate leave which is what that would come under.

Silent Running 10th May 2012 10:20

Ahh Leave at last

Well it looks like the triple 7 crews will be finding Leave even harder to find after this pm's announcement, whilst the good old -400 should be able to take most of the next two years off!

jonathon68 10th May 2012 14:06

and scratch most of the expected JFO and Command upgrades on the 777 and 744 as well. I suspect that there will be a lot of 744 pilots downgrading to the big twin shortly.

MACH.88 13th May 2012 04:35

Downgrade?

Is going from the 744 to the 777 a downgrade??

MACH.88:cool:

badairsucker 13th May 2012 07:12

I agree mach....not sure why it's a downgrade going form an old aircraft to a modern all singing all dancing aircraft.

Oh, must be a size thing....:{:ugh:

crwjerk 13th May 2012 07:31

Oh, must be a size thing....
744...... wingspan 64.4 m, length 70.6m
777-300er...... wingspan 64.8m, length 73.9m
What was that about size champ????

AvEnthusiast 13th May 2012 07:31

but what about the second officer program they have? I thought they are expanding that's why they have announced this program.

badairsucker 13th May 2012 07:49

jerk

Very good!

But size as in SIZE and pax carried due to the UPPER deck etc.

I'm sure some of our old crusty 60+ pilots think its a smaller aircraft.

duyen 13th May 2012 11:48

dont worry cathay boys. The 200+ indian cadets are coming to the rescue.

raven11 13th May 2012 11:52

Ignoring the four lovely big engines on the 744...

The 747-8 is a Code F aircraft and has a length of 76m with a wingspan of 68.4m....:ok:

raven11 13th May 2012 12:06

But I'd much rather PT on the 777 than the 747-8.....

The Messiah 13th May 2012 13:44

As far as I'm aware the 747-8 is still a Cat D aircraft.

BusyB 13th May 2012 20:16

I'd rather PT in First on a 744 but in business on a 777:ok:

geh065 14th May 2012 06:46

Whats lovely about them? They aren't even very big either.

raven11 14th May 2012 07:07

Messiah

The 747-8 is a Cat D aircraft as far as its approach category is concerned (based on approach speed) but it's a Code F (like the A380) aircraft with respect to airport taxi way limitations.

The 777 is a Code E....because of its a smaller size.

F_one 14th May 2012 07:18

The 747-8 is a Code F aircraft
And there I was thinking "F" is freighter

jed_thrust 14th May 2012 09:11

the four lovely big engines on the 744...

Aren't they the second smallest engines CX have??

And when the 340 goes... ... ...

camel 14th May 2012 10:19
