New freighter destination

I have it from a very highly placed source that CX has signed an agreement to start flying to PTY. The person seemed to think it would be from LAX and did not know the start date.

geh065 12th Aug 2011 23:45

They say failure to pick up irony and sarcasm can be an early sign of aspbergers and autism. How goes the social life, jehova?

flyingkiwi 13th Aug 2011 04:47

at least the company could order some good looking hats for a change

The Wraith 13th Aug 2011 05:00

Bloody hell, Messiah, keep up!!!:ok:

The Messiah 13th Aug 2011 05:08

Sorry you're all just way too clever for me

It's only funny because it's true!

spannersatcx 13th Aug 2011 07:32

try GDL

The Messiah 13th Aug 2011 09:40

try GDL
Yes that's what I've been hearing for a long time now.

Iron Skillet 13th Aug 2011 10:20

Panama hats are from Ecuador:

cxslave 21st Aug 2011 02:49

Agreed. GDL is the horse to back. Everyone's mate, Uncle Nick, made it quite clear this will kick off end-2011, at a regional cgo pow-wow a month or so ago......supposedly HKG/ANC/LAX/GDL/LAX/HKG routing is what's being proposed.

Baywatcher 21st Aug 2011 03:30

The new destination is Barcelona, due to start within two months

dkul 21st Aug 2011 05:28

Yes....GDL is in the cards....PTY is a new one separate from that. And btw...I heard from someone who signed on the other side of the document. :ok:

cxorcist 21st Aug 2011 06:15

PTY is interesting because it could take significant cargo off the MIA route as a South American distribution point.

Noddys car 21st Aug 2011 14:18

Try possibly , Zaragoza Spain, and Guadalajara Mexico ,

1200firm 21st Aug 2011 22:55

A man,a plan,a canal; Panama!

Steve the Pirate 22nd Aug 2011 12:39

1200firm. Surely the freighter would operate to the aerodrome rather than the palindrome? :)

STP

iceman50 22nd Aug 2011 14:15

Hey STP surely it is NOTLOB!

Good spot

Steve the Pirate 22nd Aug 2011 15:07

The wonders of Google..

No talent on my part iceman, simply the result of a search when trying to find out what 1200 was on about. However, should the destination come on line and were to be served by a 747 rather than a 777, the following could be carried:

A man, a plan, a canoe, pasta, heros, rajahs, a coloratura, maps, snipe, percale, macaroni, a gag, a banana bag, a tan, a tag, a banana bag again (or a camel), a crepe, pins, Spam, a rut, a Rolo, cash, a jar, sore hats, a peon, a canal – Panama!

Not so sure what would be on the manifest to or from GDL.:)

1200firm 24th Aug 2011 02:33

.....and in the light of recent highly publicised events it could be said that 'sex at noon taxes'

iceman50 24th Aug 2011 03:42

New destination?

Not so, Boston.

alohajec 24th Aug 2011 08:02

STP - that's a pretty cool!

Doc, note: I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness. I diet on cod.

They mentioned upcoming destinations at the auditorium last week, quite interesting.

Steve the Pirate 24th Aug 2011 11:37

There was also a rumour of Adaven, Nevada and Saxet, Texas but I doubt there's any truth in either of those. :)

Auditorium Session

They mentioned upcoming destinations at the auditorium last week, quite interesting.
I hope you took the opportunity to rub shoulders with JS, RH, NR and "the team", and be noticed by them.

Translated: You *%#@ing brown noser. Why the *%#@ were you even attending their little propaganda session anyway??

When I read the agenda, and saw there was a presentation by the head of cargo (you know, the zoologist who used to be our DFO), entitled "Is there any money in freight", I nearly puked. That one woulda been outright laughable if it wasn't an excuse previously used to degrade our COS!

Unfortunately, although I wasn't there, I was flying, so I missed the opportunity of boycotting the event.

Air Profit 24th Aug 2011 16:50

Only one thing you need to understand about these 'info' sessions. They are designed as a form of pablum for pilots. Tell the young ones that there are 'hints' of shiny new aircraft and destinations and they will go away satisfied for another 6 months. Repeat.

That's it really, never actually improve the career in any substantive way, but make the young ones 'think' that there is hope for their futures. Laughable in it's simplicity, but usually effective enough to keep the sheep in line....:ugh:

711 24th Aug 2011 17:37

BC. So you would have done a boycott, but you were busy wearing their hat ? :hmm:

Air Profit, thank you so much for your wise enlightment. I really really thought they like us.Bugger.

Are you two for real? Jesus...

quadspeed 24th Aug 2011 18:14

Eddie's way ahead of us... he's even got the new Lithium Battery Protection Goggles on.

Air Profit 25th Aug 2011 02:36

711.....vodka before breakfast again..? :=

Prince of Dzun 25th Aug 2011 10:06

Air Profit;

Your use of " a form of pablum for pilots " in post 32 is a little off the mark. I think you mean " a form of pabulum for pilots " which is something different but possibly relevant. The definition of pabulum is generaly consided as " food for thought " but the more correct version is " insipid intellectual nourishment ". Is that what you are saying given due consideration to the word " insipid " ?

Prince of Dzun.

Air Profit 25th Aug 2011 14:31

.......of course, spell check is always a good idea. I appreciate the correction. Noted.

Steve the Pirate 25th Aug 2011 15:05

It's all in the capitalisation..

Air Profit, had you said, "a form of Pablum for pilots", arguably you could have been correct because you would have been using the brand name, Pablum. As I'm sure you already know, Pablum is a processed cereal for infants and its trademarked name is based on the contraction of the Latin word pabulum. So don't beat yourself up!

However, you do need a grammar check because it should be "Laughable in its simplicity.." :)

On the beach 25th Aug 2011 16:32

"However, you do need a grammar check because it should be "Laughable in its simplicity.."
That's punctuation not grammar, mate. :ok:

Air Profit 25th Aug 2011 17:44

Good to 'sea' that we are focusing on the more important issues.....:ugh:
