A 2nd Officer's tenure in Cathay Pacific
Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get from 2nd officer to F/O in Cathay Pacific?
I do understand that industry is constantly changing and demand for pilots affects everything but have heard 2 years and one person has even told me 10 years so if anyone has an idea it would a great help. And also a side-note, how long till a person qualifies or has done his/her time to get an outside port base? |
S/O to F/O 4-6 years, possibly longer
Approx 10 years before you can expect to get a base |
With the new crew composition of 1xcapt 1xFo 2x SO there will be twice as many So moving into one FO slot. So look at more than 5-6 years as a SO or sh1t housing salary!

Plan to shack up with 3 of your best friends in a 600 sq ft flat for 4 to 8 years. :8

Now I thought my PPRUNE name "Capt Toss Parker" was quirky and inovative but (Blue Bag Bitch) you have just won the prize big fella!
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D It perfectly sums up the indoctrination into becoming a Swire Gimp :ok: |
Have to agree "Blue Bag Bitch".......PPrune handle of the year.

SO time
From my understanding the P2x HK license is only valid for 5 years...
|
How Long
How Long before I can have a BJ in the "cockpit" from a hostee??;)
|
Inflight BJ's were phased out of the contracts when A-scale went to B-scale. However there is a clause in the cadet contract, where cadets are entitled on a once monthly basis, to be bent over a crew room bunk and sodomised by the captain should he feel so inclined.
|
The B-Scale bar is always open. There is refuge.

Cathay SO Interview
Hey Guys, Has anybody been to the initial interview for Cathay SO recently? I got an email last week inviting me for interview and a tech exam in London in Nov. I have a frozen ATPL. Would really appreciate any tips or advice. Cheers!
|
With a frozen ATPL. you will be left in the cold for a long time working as an SO in Hong Kong. You will have a P2X rating and have to log the hours in a HK CAD logbook with a P2X column. These hours are not recognised by other aviation aurhorities and you won't be able to unfreeze your ATPL while at CX.
|
What Dan means to say is that while you are a S/O you cannot unfreeze your ATPL. You will have to wait for your JFO/FO upgrade then accrue 1500hrs at which point you can unfreeze your HK ATPL.
|
So expect to be in your 7th year in CX before you have an unfrozen ATPL.
You'll be 36 by then & a JF/O with two bars on your shoulder. |
