A380 Rumour ????
Heard today another A380 rumour.
6*A380 ex Emirates plus simulator. To be announced next week? Looking forward to any rumours - true or false |
Spoke to one of the managers recently, no A380's, but "another aircraft type" will be ordered shortly. A350's anyone?
|
747-800i ??
|
777-300er?
|
Heard that it will not be either the A380 or 747-8i, and will be something we do not currently operate. That only really leaves the A350 or a fleet of Cessna208s on floats.
Having said that, given the secrecy of aircraft orders in the past up to the day or two before any announcement, I would not be holding my breath! I don't see how any manager can say with certainly that we will be ordering one thing over another unless it is the guys in aircraft purchasing or doing the finance. |
Well, what did i hear........
I heard it may be A350's or A380's Will be getting rid of 777's. |
No reason to announce an order now, boys. If they did that before the end of the year, it would be very hard to convince the troops that they don't have the money for 13th month yet they have it for some shiny new jets.
If anything is in the works, it will be announced next year. :hmm: |
cant exactly announce new orders when the sky is falling, financial crisis, SLS etc. As Sqwak says, with 13th month around the corner and aircraft sitting in the parking lot. Maybe a couple more rounds of SLS will foot the bill.... share the pain :}
|
I think the phrase 'over my dead body' and a further SLS round could be placed in the same sentence...
|
I'm surprised the 787 hasn't been rumored. Or has the company publicly stated that the 787 won't fit in the operation?
|
Probably considered a bit small for CX; the 789 is "only" around the same size as the 330 and the 787-10 hasn't been launched yet; the 350, on the other hand, offers plenty of growth opportunities, as well as a potential 773/77W replacement down the road (350-1000).
Of course, you can be sure that Airbus sees CX as a potential 388 customer, so they will do all they can do reel them on that front as well. |
787 'Dreamliner' (same dream/same team!) was considered but unfortunately it was determined that in 36 degree temperatures and humidity above 76% fuselage panels would fall off.
Additionally the rough nature of the runway surface of 07L in HKG would have caused serious cracking at the wing root leading to structural failure within 6 months. RFP for Sonic Cruiser? |

determined by who? sounds highly unlikely. any chance of a web reference or is this just a rumour? |

I bet you're a hoot at parties. Don't fancy Monthy Python much, huh? |
I've no idea what you're on about Quad, A. Le Rhone, in his PPRuNe posting on the 17th of November regarding the structural integrity of the 787, used perception and cleverly apt expression to make a sarcastic remark. But a knack for sarcasm isn't necessarily linked to intelligence. Some highly intelligent people who have autism or Asperger's syndrome, for example, may fail to understand jokes and sarcasm. But generally speaking, people who are particularly good at detecting sarcasm also tend to be better at identifying emotional facial expressions. They seem to understand social situations better overall. Hence the reference to parties and the hoot. Monty Python is generally know to tackle death, sex, religion, war, and more with heavy doses of satire and sarcasm. Hence it got included as well. |

As far as I can tell, the only way we'll know which particular type we're getting is when the management categorically deny we're getting it. Only then can we be assured it's on the way.
