Where is COS08 payscales?
could someone post this or tell where to find it on intracx. thanks
|
..........:hmm:
|
huh? that's quite a lot more than my current B Scale SCA pay????????
You must quote A scale surely? |
HKG based freighter is less. Nope, thats what they sent me when I joined in 2008.
|
So, if i sign on the COS 08, take the Unpaid leave and get past 55 then I also will get a 20% payrise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be nice but I can't see it being correct. infact to quote NR: "the unification of Command pay for Pax and Freighter pay on the CURRENT B SCALE" What you have quoted are A SCALE salaries, sorry to disappoint you. |
Those are the B-scale payrates for Asian base-HKD salary in the Veta COS. I can't find the COS08 payrates anywhere?
|
ACMS,
just a shot in the dark here, but are you sure you're not reading the numbers above as a monthly amount instead of the annual salary??! (albeit dropping off the last digit of course!). Don't shoot - had to ask!:} |
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh give the man a prize.
yes those are yearly scales. Sorry, the COS shows monthly!!! bugger:ok: |
I wish it was monthly.
|
Just a convenience then that the FC recruitment managers husband has taken an early out-of-seniority freighter command and will shortly be checked to line - I THINK NOT!!!
AFL |
Those figures listed are COS99 Asian Based B-Scales in HKD yearly figures, does anyone have COS08 figures?
Does COS08=UFO Scales? |
That is it, they are the same. Quote from the schedule where those numbers came from.
"The following salary scale is applicable to all pilots employed on a permanent basis on or after 1st April 1993" It is what I get paid and I am on Cos08. Trust me, I just checked what my last pay was to make sure I wasn't being dumb. |
If this is true, FO's are taking a paycut with COS08. FO4 is a USD 20000 difference between the two payscales and a 3rd year FO will lose USD 59292 over 7 years. Plus taking a 3 week unpaid leave ......
|
Just worked it out....taking out the first 3 and 1/2 years on the freighter and assuming the two new pay points are the same 2% increase. COS08 is an average paycut of over 25000USD per year over 11 years as an FO, including P Fund contributions. These are based on the USAB CoS99 B scale and the UFO scales wef 01JUL08.
|
Thanks for the info Scooby, but if I'm reading my COS99 correctly, its a carbon copy of what you provided on COS08, then why is this in the update:
DFO: "....For some individuals a move to CoS 08 will mean a reduction in income for the short term, either in salary or Bypass Pay...." I can understand the Bypass being taken away from guys who sign over to COS08, but Income reduction? |
And can someone confirm that COS08 DOES NOT EQUAL UFO Scale?
|
As far as I know the based CoS 08 = UFO
|
Let me see if I get this. If you are a US based freighter Captain, you get a payrise and you will keep your US base and fly pax. If you are a US based Freighter FO, you still get to keep your base (as an FO) but you lose money with the new scale, you lose immediate pay with a 3 week UPL and your opportunity to early freighter command evaporates.
Please tell me I am confused. |
can somebody pls post the based crew Cos 08 ??
|
go to crewdirect and you can download all the payscales as part of the different COS. USAB Unified COS08 payscale is significantly less than COS99. It seems that HKG Pax Unified and B-scale are the same at the moment. Freighter FO's seem to lose the most with the new proposal, followed by based COS99 Pax FO's. HKG FO's seem not to be affected by the change to COS08, at least salary wise.

When were you hired and onto what fleet? As many have said, the scales that you have published are the COS 99 numbers. COS 08 came into effect if you STARTED 01 Jan 2008 or later. Somebody please post the real COS 08 numbers. MACH.88:cool: |
There is no Unified payscale for Hong Kong. COS08 = COS99 pay for Hong Kong based crew, excluding Hong Kong Freighter which has a different payscale.
Canada, US, New Zealand, Australia and Europe bases have different unified payscales which are less than COS99. Canada & US unified payscales have the biggest difference to B-scale, while Australian unified actually pays better for certain SFO yearly increments. Seems that North American based COS99 FO's lose the most, with the Freighter FO's being disadvantaged even more, having the lowest payscale. |
I can't find Cos08 on crew direct, can anyone post the figures, europe base, thanks.
|
S/O, I STARTED in 2008 meaning I JOINED the company and SIGNED a contract called CoS08, pax obviously. :ugh:
I give up so could someone please post the CoS08 payscale. |
Scooby79
there is NO Hong Kong COS08 pay-scale. Only bases have a COS08 unified pay-scale. When COS08 introduced the GMA wrote the following on the 08. October 2007: "The Hong Kong FO B scale will remain unchanged (except for the increases referred to in the salary section above) and therefore, Second Officers who join starting from January will see the Unified scales apply only if they choose to go on a base as an FO. There is no plan to recruit Passenger DEFOs into Hong Kong at this time. Current FOs and SOs will keep their current A, B or Freighter scales and will not be asked to accept the UFO scales." |
Compairing the US B-Scale(1999) to the Unified COS08
B-Scale COS08 1SFO $116040 $110604 2SFO $118920 $112824 3SFO $121680 $115068 4SFO $124320 $117372 5SFO $126840 $119724 6SFO $129240 $122124 7SFO $131640 $122124 8SFO $133680 $122124 9SFO $135840 $122124 10SFO$137760 $122124 So over a ten year period you would take a US$89748 PAYCUT plus if you factor in the 15.5% cash in lieu of p-fund it US$103660 PAYCUT. |
Including the P-fund contribution, a year 10 SFO will be $1600/mo worse off than present. Effectively, they have taken away your P-fund contribution. You didn't really expect to save for retirement did you..? :ooh:
|
HKG Fo's
My memory agrees with GTC on the last time this proposal was rolled out Ie any SO in HKG is not worse off as long as they don't bid for a base in their first 4 years as a FO. However if you bid for a base in Year 1-4 you effectively work as a FO on the same money that you earnt as a SO. But we all need to wait and see what is actually proposed/offered/ pineappled |
Somebody please post the real COS 08 numbers.

Home Page-> Flight Crew-> Crew support-> Personnel-> Conditions Of Service. It's all there. |
Home Page-> Flight Crew-> Crew support-> Personnel-> Conditions Of Service. It's all there. If someone has the COS08 based payscales, please post them! |
Presumably, it's only available for viewing to those that are employed on it. |
correct, it is not available for me neither on intra cx.. pls post it man!
|
Yeap I Don't see it either. I'm interested
|
CoS08 itself is only available on CrewDirect to those employed on it. The payscales (unified, etc.) shown within CoS99 are ALMOST the same as those in CoS08, EXCEPT that the US based payscale, shown as "Effective 1 January 2008" which we received in that August, 2007, email shows two columns, one effective 01.01.08, the other effective 01.01.09, the second being higher (a raise in payscales). The one in the CoS08 of those employed under it shows "Effective 1 July 2008," is HIGHER than the one effective 1 January 2008 for the first few years of FO, but is LOWER for later years of FO.
I think the starting salary for UFOs was raised between 1 January 2008 and 1 July 2008, but the annual increase in ALL UFO payscales was removed from the 1 July 2008 payscale printout. Hmm... |
For Eur scales see my previous post and X by 1.47.
|
So let me ge this straight... From what I read, if you are a freighter based FO on USAB cos 99, and happen to choose to go on cos. 08 as a result of this offer, are you no longer freighter only?! Or maybe this is part of details coming out on monday!?!
And also, no 15.5% P fund with cos 08?? |
I have a US Base Unified Scale in my stack of stuff which lists the Senior First Officer monthly salary W.E.F 01.01.09 right next to the above rates.
These 01.01.09 US Unified rates are a bit higher. Were these rates foregone for some reason? They are better but still below B scale. Also, what else goes with COS08, I hear only two weeks leave or is it four? Certainly inferior to COS99. Too early to tell, but so far this deal does not pass the smell test. I will not take a pay cut to stay here for RA65. |
So besides the difference in pay, COS08 also has no 15.5% and less leave?? Is this correct?
|
If so, no SLS out of this eternal FO either. :ok:
