Schedule Reduction?

I have heard the engineers have notification of scheduled service reductions in CGD (3 a week on the bus instead of daily) and LHR (one service cancelled or reduced)from May onwards.
Any news from a less reliable source? A flight ops manager for example?

Gigaboomer 4th Apr 2009 03:56

I have just returned from LHR and heard the same thing from the ground staff there, 253/254 will be cancelled from May. Not sure how reliable this is though.

ACMS 4th Apr 2009 05:33

Well we have to cancel flights dont we, how else could they give us any LWOP !! There wont be enough crew to fly otherwise!!

Not one spare seat in first/business/economy plus one on the jump seat.
Same for CX 252.

My wife is a monthly on CX business class across the pacific from HKG. Both US coasts.

The business class fare booked through American Express travel (full fare) has almost halved in 12 months.

oicur12 4th Apr 2009 07:43

The price is largely dictated by the market. The business can control volume or price but not both in an effective way.

spannersatcx 4th Apr 2009 07:54

Can't remember all the schedule reductions, certainly LHR, CDG and FRA in europe affected.

Flts are full (it is easter!) but no yield.

CXtreme 4th Apr 2009 17:22

CX staff travel have not halved. The Lufthansa crew pay half my fare on staff travel though. Domestic and international.

AnQrKa 5th Apr 2009 02:29

USA to HKG return full fare business class can be picked up for less than 5000 greenbax.

You reckon cx are making money right now?

doubt it.

LHR~SYD 515 pounds return today's paper.......

...pushed back the delivery of two Boeing 777-300ERs to next year. ...talking to Boeing and Airbus to see if it’s possible to defer more deliveries and we’re also looking at what to with leased aircraft - whether to not renew leases that expire, or to try and re-lease them at much more favourable rates
With the classic fleet being disbanded, 747BCFs parked in the desert, 5x 773 gone, confirmed deferment of 2x 777er and a yet-to-be-disclosed amount of 747-800s and 777ERs, plus whatever leases we let expire, its gonna be very, very nasty.

Even I can figure this one out.

iMad 5th Apr 2009 07:55

quad: They want to get rid of the 5 772s, but so far nothing has come through yet..

geh065 5th Apr 2009 14:24

CX253/257 to be cut apparently. Also CDG down to 10 a week and one daily SYD cut too. Thats for starters.

LHR~SYD 515 pounds return today's paper.......
Have you tryed to get seats at that price??
travel agent said it's VERY limited per flight..... if only we could pay $50 / barrel

Kitsune 5th Apr 2009 17:40

It's not a problem, and if you're willing to go etihad etc it's even cheaper....

fly123456 5th Apr 2009 17:58

oh, damn, CDG down to 10 a week. Wasn't it the case until what... a week ago, when they increased to a twice daily flight?

So not a big change then.

ACMS 6th Apr 2009 04:00

The latest from Engineering is that we wont park the 777-200's. They are too good to sit in the desert. We will reduce their flying perhaps or use them for charters.

propje 6th Apr 2009 11:05

Simple economics, cut capacity so you create demand which in turn increase the ticket price..........

Avius 7th Apr 2009 04:15

Vermin, Good Post....

finally some rational thoughts on this thread. Agree with you entirely.

Kitsune 8th Apr 2009 07:31

Just got off the phone with the DFO and there will be a written exam on your next RT/PC and/or AL to make sure, that all your spelling is correct.
Mmmmmm..Avius..you were saying something about "getting a life"...:ouch:

I might very well be THE ONE conducting YOUR next RT/PC/AL. Couple of 2's here and there, and you'll really be talking to the DFO, in his office, WITHOUT the cookies and tea..

AD POSSE AD ESSE

I seriously doubt that someone with your mindset would be involved in any kind of checking or even training.

From your posts here, it is evident that you enjoy bullying and you most likely don't even belong anywhere near a flight deck.

Sorry man, but this forum is a total waste of time. Over and out.

Have fun.:ok:
