Yeah, she'll be right mate. Its all just the boss trying to scare the staff. No real downturn here.

Right.

Wrong. The problems in the world economy and in particular the airline industry have not even started to play out yet. CX will downsize considerably, like most other airlines. The industry is built on wafer thin margins relying heavily on unsustainable growth of the Chinese economy. The oil bogyman has not yet finished either. Relatively cheap oil is not here to stay.

Tyler may appear to be crying wolf but for good reason.

Good luck. You will need it.

I wouldn't put much credence in anything from the mouth of DT ('David Downturn'). It was under his watch that the disastrous 'sign or be fired' threat to A-scale crew was made, leading to a sick-out that cost (from CX figures) over half a billion HKD, then MSS, 49ers, Crofts case and so it goes on a decade later.

He and Red Oddington, who has been featuring in the Australian press a lot lately, also featured on the failed Airline Partners bid for QANTAS.

Why is it that these people keep turning up like bad pennies?

NR told me that when oil was around 140 a barrel it accounted for 40% of CXs operating cost, at the moment it is under 40. They are predicting only 1% growth this year........ That's on an all time record year last year. Aeroplanes at the moment are full, sure a lot of J are not full fare, but the A/C are mostly full. It has been widly reported by people smarter than me that CX have completly stuffed up the fuel hedging ( maybe QF could run a hedging course for beginners, first students - CX ), and the way they report it makes it sound a lot worse than it is.

So tell me, where should the redundancies start :confused:

Talk about spewing drivel - some delusional person here actually said CX has a seniority system.
Then explain to me why there are now 700 pilots junior to the most senior SO!!!:}
