Oasis Interview

Dear 707,

As I am going to have an interview in next month,I would like to ask any details about the screening.

Thanks in advance

Kapt. Ive 14th Jul 2005 15:49

Hey Mate - do you recall any of the names of the blokes that interviewed you? I'm just wondering how many of those KA "Out of Office" emails are due to Oasis...? :}

B707 14th Jul 2005 18:02

I've already posted a brief T&C's above.

Andy Kumaria and Brian Spencer (Eng) consisted of the Interview panel.

Quite an informal interview with a few general tech questions, nothing horrifying.

Any idea about the TAX?

Medwin 26th Jul 2005 17:32

TAX in HK is 15% of your income, which is pretty high if you ask me.

NoseGear 27th Jul 2005 03:56

Qeh?

Medwin, 15% is pretty high? I guess you just forgot the sarcastic smilie when posting..........?;)

Nosey

superfish 27th Jul 2005 13:23

Oasis Hong Kong

Would anyone have any contact info on this outfit?

BlueEagle 9th Sep 2005 03:42

I haven't gone into it in detail but you may find something here. or here. .

Deske1 9th Sep 2005 08:57

Anyone has an idea why Oasis is late to start?

Fifthleg 10th Sep 2005 22:30

Salary tax is on the way up in HKG-now 16% for the current financial year!!

CathayPacific 12th Sep 2005 07:30

Hello guys and girls,

Does anyone think Oasis will have Cadet Pilot Programme in the future, because other Hong Kong based airlines already have that... (KA and CX)

And also, is Oasis going for the B744 or A340?

Thanks for replying ;)

sinkingship 12th Sep 2005 16:44

CPP, i very much doubt it, even all the guys and girls being recruited now are all type rated. So going through a cadet progaram will take maybe upto 18mths before becoming online. i dont think oasis can expand that quickly to justify a CPP.
They using ex UA 744's

Left Wing 15th Sep 2005 05:47

An airline has to have minimum of 30 airplanes to be able to run a CPP.

How ever there was an advert for cadets in Flt Intl' a few mths back looking for EU resindets?

Deske1 15th Sep 2005 10:00

Yes,there was. They want all the flt crew to be based and have the right to live and work either in the EU or in the US.

The plan is to start first to London-Gatwick next year and after to Oakland.

lobsterbisque 28th Sep 2005 21:39

yep, the ad in flight was also for second officers but they had a large pool of type rated guys so that was that! but hang on in there - i reckon that they are going to give cathay a run for thier money

CathayPacific 28th Sep 2005 23:30

Thanks guys! ;)

There were objections raised by other operators to their route licence application to the Hong Kong licensing authority (ATLA) which required responses and another hearing which is due early November. Possibly original target was overly ambitious as well.

Paranoid Parrot 21st Nov 2005 22:41

Andy Kumaria is 61 now so he's too old to fly a heavy.

Tax in Hong Kong was 15% shortly to become 16%. Instead of being taxed for your housing allowance they allow you to add 10% to that figure. So 16.5%, presumably going up to 17.6%. You are not entitled to any personal tax allowance so that percentage figure is only good if your salary is high.

alangirvan 25th Nov 2005 20:26

Is Oasis still hoping to operate a couple of UA 744s? I have read that UA have got nearly all their 744s back into service.

Deske1 21st Feb 2006 00:52

Any news about them?

geh065 13th Mar 2006 04:01

Their start has been further delayed as a result of a delay getting their AOC. This means that the deal on the ex-UA 744s has lapsed and the aircraft in question have gone to another operator. Oasis are now in search of other 744s, which I imagine won't be too hard to find seeing there are ex-SQ and soon ex- MH specimens around.

As far as I know, no interviews have taken place yet.

Dan Winterland 15th Mar 2006 02:34

50 thousand squids a year for F/Os, Gatwick base. GSS are going to be short of pilots soon - I reckon!

LEMD 26th Mar 2006 15:34

Just wondering if anyone has received their contract yet?

Kitsune 27th Mar 2006 08:03

Article in todays FI states they have sourced 2 747-400 from Deucalion Capital, to go Hong Kong LGW from September.........(of course CX still has HKG-LGW rights............):D

Denzil 27th Mar 2006 20:35

The aircraft in question are Ex SQ, currently operated by Air Atlanta having just been leased to Iberia!!

ScootCargoOps 28th Mar 2006 04:48

if they were operated by Air Atlanta before, is that a bad thing?
