It's not the cost of living you gotta worry about it's the cost of your health and sanity.

CX S/O = cruise pilots?

During the first 4 years at CX are S/O only limited to the function of cruise pilots?

All those who took upgrades to Captain and F/O after the 49ers were fired have filled the positions of their own colleagues. The new joiners are merely filling expansion slots in the company. The AOA members took their own mates jobs and persist in calling innocent new joiners scabs - sad really - their sense of self interest has blinded them.

In my eyes anyway.

Time to JFO currently 28 months, in part due to the slow down since Sept 11th. That said with current expansion it is expected to drop below 2yrs by June 03.

CX salary scale

I found a few days ago a comparison of the 1993 CX salary scale and the DragonAir salary scale on the KA website.

Where can i find an updated salary scale for a carreer at CX (from S/O salary to Senior Captain)?

Question CX recruitment ban

What is the situation re the recruitment ban at the mo? Heard that new recruits can end up in all sorts of trouble with the union if they accept job offers now. Is this right?

About a year ago the SO Package looked like this:

Pay: HK$386,000
Housing: HK$243,000
Allowances: HK$60,000 (varies on fleet/roster obviously)

Incoming: HK$:689,000 = US$87,215

Of course this can be mis-leading as the housing allowance goes directly into your rent (in full).

Annual before tax (but after rent) HK$446,000 = US$56,685

Tax is 15-17% leaving approx: HK$379,000 = US$47,800 take-home-in-your-pocket-play-money.

Multiply that by 1.8 and you get a general FO package: ie: US$86,000 in your pocket.

Before I get shot to pieces remember these examples are only for HKG based crews.... if you choose to be based you are paid in local currency and subject to local tax regulations. Also as, stipulated on many threads there are various contracts..... the above example is only my experience.

Traditionall we also got a 13 month salary/christmas bonus (which paid 2/3's of your tax bill) but this was not paid last year....who knows this year?? I have not included it in the abv maths.

Last year the package was as above?

This year the package includes eternal damnation from IFALPA and from all "Professional Pilots" for joining under a Recruiting Ban.

After a little search i found out about the ban.The only questions i couldn't find answers to are:
1)why after all those pilots got fired?
2)what are they doing now?Did they find jobs anywhere else?
