Hello, I read that you've been engaging in the hiring process. I am wondering if you meant that you have 400tt hours and are being interviewed as a DESO? If so, how did it go? From the CX website, the min is1000tt and from when I understand this is even quite low to be considered.
THank you,

THank you,
Not sure where you got that from. According to their site only 250TT is required, but 1000TT is "preferred". I have under 1000 and still got an interview. At one of their recruitment roadshows the Boeing CP told me he recently hired a pilot with only 280 TT or something, so it can definitely be done.

What are current SO rosters like? Do you get blocks of days off (say 4-5 days?)

And does annual leave have to be taken in blocks of a minimum size? Or could you take 3x one week breaks?

You only get 3 weeks leave as a SO. You might want to make sure that you know what you are signing up for.

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone is in the same or similar situation? I completed my 3 day interview with CX for DESO/DEFO back in February 2025. Once I returned home I didn't hear anything from CX for 5 weeks so I got intouch and they said "My application is positive at this stage pending I pass the background check and Licence transfer" and that they are reviewing the Course Plan.
A week after I was told I am on the Hold Pool and they will get in contact mid year for an update on the course date.
I know all this sounds promising BUT I have no offer of employment, so I am in limbo land at the moment just waiting to see if I will be offered a position. At the Interview they told me to expect the result within two weeks, it's now been almost 8 weeks and still don't know.
Its become a bit more urgent as I was just made redundant at my current flying position and need to know if I have a position with CX, if so I'm happy to wait but I need to move on if I'm just forever on the hold pool. Has anyone that's recently interviewed been offered a position? Or in a similar position as me and on the hold pool?
Appreciate any and all feed back.

You applied for an SO or an FO position though because that changes expectations/hold file durations I imagine

Slow Down

You probably don’t want to hear this but the tariffs and potential trade wars have meant a big fall off in cargo and pax numbers. Recruitment is likely to slow down until the commercial outlook is clearer.

Anyone know if they are still hiring SO’s? What is the average time to JFO at the moment? What are the rosters on the 747 like vs pax fleet? Average gross pay? Housing allowance? What are the staff travel benefits like at CX? How long does it take to get a start date from application if successful on average?

Is HKE still hiring SO’s? Is it just FO on SO’s wages with a full P2 rating?

Saw Hong Kong Airlines advertising for SO’s recently as well, anyone know much about it?

Cheers

For me, it took 7 months from application date until my start date. The pilot allowance is $14k/month for SO1. I wouldn’t budget on making more than base pay.
