Cool

It seems to be true - this morning RTHK reported that the destinations in the first post had been applied for.

Looks like KA could be the place to be for fast promotion

How much faster than just over a year do you want? Next step is DEs.

From todays newspaper

Dragonair will apply for rights to fly to four Asian cities and Sydney, Australia, by the end of this month in a dramatic expansion of its international network.

Airline insiders said Dragonair would appl to Hong Kong's Air Transport Licensing Authority for permission to fly to Manila, Bangkik, Seoul and Tokyo as well as Sydney.

He added that Dragonair would probably seek approval to operate two return flights a day between Hong Kong and MNL, BKK, SEL with possibly a daily service to Tokyo and Sydney...

Commenting on Dragonair's move, a Cathay insider said: "We wouldn't object to Dragonair's application."

The new routes could result in new aircraft orders because, as things stand, Dragonair is unlikely to want to shift its existing A330s from its busy trunk routes...

Aviation experts believe it would take "quite a long time" for Dragonair to win rights to all the cities to which it is seeking traffic rights... Realistically we are looking at next year before any of the new service start.

Still with A330's or something bigger? There was a rumour that they were getting 744's a while ago.

Actually, it was looked into, for freighter. Unfortunately, 744 are in short supply thus far.
