Most expensive city for expats

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-mos...st-11654695707

Congratulations to Hong Kong, declared as the most expensive city for expats. According to CX management, that doesn't need to be taken into account anymore. To anyone considering joining the airline, be in no doubt of the impoverished state of living you will experience on the package they are offering. Caveat Emptor...

good job you’re no longer an expat then! December 2020 saw to that.

It also turned (incredibly quickly) into a dump of a police state.

There are literally no redeeming features flying for CX, working in HK.

Sorry - perhaps one: imprisonment in Penny’s Bay is free. Perks of the job.

ha yep no more seniority when it comes to upgrades. I guess confirmed. So those waiting around for commands you have been warned they will do exactly the same thing as they are doing to 6 year SOs now

How can CX "enhance" your medical benefits and quell your fears of going bankrupt following a serious illness in your family... The same way Hong Kong Government is doing...
This not to mention the obvious question, WHY are all the doctors leaving HK ??? You know why !!!

“Most expensive city for expats”
This shouldn’t affect any CX pilots as you are all now employed on competitive benchmarked local packages.

MMs posts remind me rather of the effect of athletes foot: persistent and annoying yet never very telling or amounting to much more than a nuisance .

The 'poll' quoted above is just one of many; all with different criteria and conclusions and not any basis with which to seriously judge the cost of expat living in HK or anything else.
