Repatriation flight after 25 years in PEY
Devasted to read Gary T's report on Yammar about his PRI4 No Sub J class repatriatioin flight back to UK downgraded to PEY after 25 years service.
From GMA , CPBoeing, Director CX People to Veta Manager they should all hang their heads in shame. What an appalling way to treat someone and his wife on their last day.
Just shows what a f****king mess this company is in.
And no apology from the company. After his holiday perhaps GMA will spout more platitudes about "trying to do better" but really this is all a bit of a joke now. I wonder what their PR/HR consultants would say about this terrible treatment of staff.
No repect at all so none will be returned. You reap what you sow Cathay.

There's no love at CX.
Management(Tom Owen's department) know about these issues, they don't care and they aren't going to do anything about it.
You've already given your years of service so they got what they want and you ain't getting what you want.
It's a bit like CX telling you they will review a pay deal after you've signed the agreement...

Small potatoes really and dabz totally correct.. Dir People (the army guy with zero background in HR) doesn't give a sh*t, he only cares about his bonus. Thinking that DFO will even mention this is laughable.
I would totally throw this benefit away to get a 'Real" Medical and Dental plan that won't bankrupt a family... But that won't happen.

But if it is a pilot manager or mason, they get the full works. Framed photo of a CX aircraft ( usually the wrong type ), lunch at Dakotas and a funny handshake with photo and a mention in Wednesdays Funny paper.
Wonder what send off CP Boeing will get ?
Flights looking pretty full down to PER these days.

When is the CP going ?
i was told many years ago that unless you were a mason you had zero chance of even being considered for management not that I would want that job but it was an enlightening observation
what flabergasts me is that any of you continue to be shocked at the contemptible attitude that this company holds us in

Priority 4, no accom in pong Kong. How about a hotel in HKG until a seat is available. The end of the day, and pay attention folks “ if they ask will you accept PEY, and you say “yes”. You have given them 40k for nothing. Sadly seats seem to become available if you cost them. If you roll they make twice the money. Taking the upgrade off a pax and downgrading you is a win win. It’s a dog eat dog mentality

And your 25 yrs of delivering hundreds of thousands of fare paying people safely to their destination means shit too under the current administration they have either dropped the ball or lost the plot.

Correct. And to boot having paid your tax and gone through all the other formalities it’s tîme to be « offsky « ... not hanging around HK. They sadly know this and you’re over a barrel.

30 Years in CX - 26 as a Captain - and on my Repat flight to LHR (albeit FCL) the Crew at the Check in Desk scrawled "No Lounge" on my Boarding pass. Probably joined before he was born. Now I fly with BA on a Staff ticket. They treat us much better.
I'd rather buy myself a glass of bubbly than have one from Cathay. Just tastes better.

What a joke. Hearing that makes me feel sick. He should be offered a few sets of PRI 4 NOSUB LO tickets for his retirement.
There are plenty of ways this could have been mitigated. But our company seems bent on division, tension, conflict, and disunity.
This should be a real warning for new joiners. You are not joining a company that has your best interests at heart.
How incredibly sad.

Their attitude is "there is nothing more we can use him for now, so f%(k him. " Don't even get me started on PRI 29 staff travel... another slap in the face.

The sad and disturbing aspect of this story is the fact that it's a deliberate policy, endorsed by management. It is just one more way for the company to express how little respect they have for you, and your life's long effort on behalf of the company. Needless to say, does anyone here believe that a senior manager would find himself being downgraded on his repatriation flight? No, didn't think so. Be guided accordingly. You only have one career.

I am sorry to hear about stuff like this. You can tell a great deal about someone in how they treat others — particularly in how they take care of and treat the help.
Perhaps things like this are why Mickey Mouse wears a Cathay Pacific watch.

I thought Cathay pilots wear Mickey Mouse watches. My bad! I must have that backwards.
