I don't have many details, but with great sadness I have to report that Brian passed away on Friday.

I go back a long way with him: I checked Brian in Ansett, and a few years later he was checking me in Cathay! A very competent pilot, and a very nice man indeed. Always a pleasure to fly with; a true gentleman.

RIP Brian.

A perfect gentleman, and overall extremely nice man.
An absolute delight to fly with.
Back in the Eighties, Brian ran the early CRM courses in Macau.
A better man, would be hard to find.
Sad to see you go too soon Brian.

Taken too young

Brian was a brilliant aviator and a first class human being. I flew with him as an FO and a Captain and can honestly say I have never met anyone with as much knowledge on just about any subject as he. He joined CX as an FO on The Classic and went right to left and was one of their most youngest ever Commanders. He became a base trainer on 747 and 777 for many years before heading back to the line. His son Luke flies as an FO on the 777 in CX. I take my hat off to the man and so should CX.
Rest in Peace Brian.

I was close mates with Brian for more than 45 years, first meeting as trainee pilots for PPL shortly after leaving school.

I echo the thoughts posted above regarding his piloting abilities and his outstanding character.

The way he conducted himself over the last couple of years suffering from the disease that finally claimed him was nothing short of amazing. If any comfort can be taken from his passing is that whilst he was clearly very ill, he was jovial, lucid and able to be functional right up to his last few hours.

Typical of Brian, his main concern was for his family and he wanted to donate his remains for medical research to help find cures to help others. He expressly did not want a funeral or memorial service in part because he did not want to bother people.......so so Brian.

I know myself and others are going to miss him terribly, and at some stage in the future I hope we get the opportunity to raise a glass with some friends and colleagues in memory of a fine human being.

Rest peacefully Zac.
