If anything says ‘don’t join CX,’ it’s this thread. The OP threw the towel in about 20 posts ago yet people are still duking it out. What a shame Cathay has become what it is

Given that the vast, vast, majority of second officers are 150 hour cadets...What an absolutely stupid and idiotic statement. Very few that I fly with have any flying experience at all. If they did then I wouldn’t fear leaving the cockpit...
Do you seriously believe that the act of pointing out a trivial amendment or change in the FCOMs or Ops A is a gauge by which to demonstrate your prowess as a pilot? If so, then need I say more...
Callsign Kilo
You’re absolutely right...it’s such a sad shame.

Cathay's downfall is synonymous with Hong Kong's, which is now just a shadow of its former self. I feel sorry for young professionals in HK where the gap between the have and have not's is growing while civil liberties are being eroded.

tiredofstupidity Nice nick. Check the mirror. Did you get past A Levels or Year 12? For your info nearly all UK airlines endorse their pilots with a Part 1 rating regardless of position. However in Aust. FO's are normally given a Second Class Rating.
Guys like you deserve a C Scale.

Take a deep breath and re-read the first sentence of post #33 slowly. A real shame, but not a surprise that individuals such as yourself are what CX is reduced to employing.

Only the best and the brightest joining CX these days. No offense to the rare, talented pilots who slip through the cracks.

Sparrows. Things must have changed for the better for FO's. In the good old days FOs received 2nd Class Type Ratings, 2nd Class ATPL,s and 2nd Class Instrument Ratings. Obviously well before your time. If you come across any ex Ansett or TAA guys they will confirm the above.
A lot of us are now retired but good times end sometime, as the CX guys are finding out and the SQ and BA crews found out.

Absolutely spot on Kilo - when you look at all the other airline forums on pprune you do not see this level of mindless infighting, everyone is generally out helping each other with useful and friendly input - but not CX pilots, we want to hurl insults in all directions all the time, we really do get what we deserve!!! Embarrassing.
