Trouble is, the ones choosing which of their "Management" colleagues they will "let go" are the ones who should either have gone ages ago or never have been promoted to their level of incompetence in the first place.
In other words - the lunatics really are running the asylum.

Plus, any one who is any good will be thinking - why not get a nice pay out from here for being let go, take a short holiday, and then walk into another job elsewhere? No seniority system holding them back...
So there is incentive for the best people to try and get laid off, where as the incompetents will be fighting tooth and nail to stay
