Cx is relying on the inertia of their legacy past..hype has a sell by date and its getting close to expiry. Ticket costs are higher than anyone else out there but service delivery is probably the lowest..why..?..mostly down to a "don't care culture"..a trickle down that has gathered momentum, from the top to the waterfall at the bottom. management don't care since they are bonus driven and the front line staff don't care..consequently, the service depends on personalities who can push the extra mile..now very thin on the ground (or air), or a toxic system of penalties applied to cabin crew if they don't tick the right boxes. And the pilots…?..Contempt for the third floor has reached gargantuan levels…and that third floor rhetoric, bling antics and Brushwing theatre..well..enough said..Shep is correct..Legacy morph into LCC..no..sorry team..it won't and aint working...

Just browsing the net and came across some YouTube clips of Air India first class. It shames me to say it, but I couldn't really argue how CXs is any better than this 😞. It's on par, if not better than ours.

I recently had one of those awkward brief elevator chats during check-out on a India layover. The well dressed Indian gentleman stated, he used to fly CX all the time to the West coast US, but, "now there are so many other premium options". I think he was trying to be polite.
Please wakeup management. It really is embarrassing.

I agree with Sam Ting Wong. As much as I hate to fly CX there really aren't too many alternatives if we're talking about price. Unless you live in major hub cities like London, New York...etc. If I want to fly from YYZ to HKG I have 2 options, AC or CX.

When we compare ourselves with the likes of ME3, we obviously have to compare on the route. We are not competing with Emirates on a HKG YYZ route.
For example. Any large European City to any City in Australia. Why on earth would you choose CX when ME3 /Singapore offer a far better product in every class? Especially the premium classes?

The East Indian community in YVR prefers now Emirates out of Seattle over flying CX from Vancouver when they travel back to India.
A high percentage of CX customers are just connecting through Hong Kong to other destinations.
Competition increases now as more and more carriers offer direct or competing flights and their product is equal or better then CX.

Granted, CX is starting to look pretty shabby compared to other "Premium" carriers, but stop spreading BS statistics Ivan.
Easter was in April last year, March this year. Even AA acknowledged that in their monthly figures. Same for everybody.

Boy, that sounds like an EXCELLENT argument for increasing manning and operations at basings elsewhere--something the company has been holding hostage (against good business sense) for years.

The 'fear mongering' is getting tedious. A lesson from someone who's been here a long time: The company will do whatever the hell they want to. Nothing in the 'negotiations' will make a bit of difference to decisions they have already planned and intend to take. All we can, and should do is to quietly maintain our resistance to their incompetence, and react to whatever it is they have planned. I gave up worrying years ago. The absolute worst thing we could do would be to go around with our tails between our legs saying 'please dont' hurt us'. Those of you young enough to leave, make those plans now. There is truly no secure future or career here. Those of us who have been here longer, most of us have the means to finally leave and start living a life free of this infuriatingly amateur led circus show. CC is the correct and moral reaction to what the company has done. If they want to make things even worse, then let them. I for one couldn't care less at this point. I'll take their A50 (!) rating and move on, either to an early retirement or some other part of the world for a few years. In fact, I find the entertainment value of watching them floundering around worth the price of admission at the moment. Have my popcorn ready to go.

While some fly from only YYZ to HKG on those nonstop flights, I would suggest that most are flying xxx to yyy (i.e. any two other airports) via YYZ and/or HKG.
Why? The fares are ludicrously expensive compared to the competition.

...and funny thing is, those same airlines with the lower fares seem to manage to pay their pilots higher salaries, benefits and pensions. Hmmmm, wonder where all of our 'high cost ticket' revenue ends up (see: management bonuses, salaries etc).

Some or most of us have been raised and educated to have integrity of some sort. Maintaining a word, apologizing when was necessary and so on. Do you believe our management has the same values?
We are dealing with people who would sell their own mother just to save their asses.
