Well if you just use Ivan Who's logic, the more expensive a city is to live in, the less disposable income you have to spend on other things, so you'll actually be better off.

It's all do with a form of reasoning called NR-logic (aka double-speak) by which it can be be claimed, for example, that increasing retirement age must decrease time to command.
