Qantas to slash 5000 jobs

Well, CX is once again going to be saved from their own stupid man management practices by outside events. Qantas is axing 5000 jobs out of a workforce of 30000. Standby for a new DEC scheme or whatever they decide to call it! Might even be a few guys desperate enough to jump at the cadet scheme. I guess when you've been fired a jobs a job.....

A classic case of poor and continued mis-management.

The 17page release here:
http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/2014022...4wbnf0wwm1.pdf

A lot of waffle about cutting costs and jobs, but little on increasing revenue.
The little Irish man should be held accountable for driving the QF group into the ground and trashing a good brand name.
(A visit to a good dentist wouldn't go amiss either!)
Sad day for many loyal and hard working staff.

It's very similar to the RBS (royal bank of Scotland ) scandal , the bank looses hundred of millions of dollars due to managerial incompetence, yet they are taking tax payers money to give bonuses to their staff , and of course the managers who were responsible for most of the problems will get the biggest bonuses Unbelievable ! This world really has become totally screwed up

Why would anyone take the risk of starting their own business now , risk your own money when making wrong decisions means going broke personally . Now you can run a company at no personal risk at all , lose billions of investors money and get the govt to bail you out while increasing your bonus .

It will be more than 5000 jobs, the announcement was for 5000 full time equivilant jobs. A lot of those will be part timers, "only" 1500 management positions.
