There are no gate or arrival slot issues in HNL. The problem is the visa. However there is/ was a push for Hawaii to get a visa waiver for China visitors. Not sure if that has been worked out. But when it does. Look out, Hawaii is a far better place to visit then any of the other resort areas mentioned. The reasons are far to great to list.

Have never heard anything about Hawaiian going to HK. Bejing is planned, Taipei (and Fukuoka) has underperformed and will be removed from Hawaiian's flight schedule.
