Deadline?
In most first-world countries when a union sets a deadline, one minute past that deadline the members are informed of a successful outcome or directed to proceed as was planned before the deadline.
The AOA is a joke.

The company's pay offer
This is the formula for our pay rise proposed by the company. As stated in the AOA email, the GC is still digesting it! Give them a bit more time please!!!

did it occur to any of you geniuses that the deadline was for the company to respond, not for the union GC to publish a recommendation based on that response?
You always have the option of signing up for the GC and do a better job, if you don't like how things are run.

It's easy to beat chests and rattle sabres esp. on an anonymous forum, but the deadline was for the company to respond adequately. They have responded, now the boys are trying to determine whether the response is deemed adequate.
Don't lose sight of the fact that the whole thing started because a yearly pay review is our contractual entitlement which had initially been dismissed as "complete" by the company without even involving us, in a typically offensive and cavalier manner. The motion was for them to come and discuss pay seriously, with a chance for us to be sitting down at the table for said discussion. Which is what has finally happened (thanks to the motion originators); what remains to be seen is whether what is offered is at all adequate or just plain offensive.
The truth is we all, GC and membership, got the ball rolling a little late on this one.

Well put Main Dog.
Those that want to denigrate the GC, thats your prerogative but DON'T do it without offering a practical alternate plan. Put you nomination in for the GC and do something about it if you don't like the way those that are expending their own personal time doing their best for the Members.

Actually the AOA provides a service I pay for. Any member is well within their rights to complain WITHOUT offering a suggestion or alternative in the same way I don't expect to offer a solution to my builder for an issue on the house or provide a solution to my mechanic for the knocking sound in my car.
Yes the GC members do it for free etc etc and that's great but they willingly signed up knowing what they were getting into. They provide a customer service to customers (that's us), and as customers we have a right to question or ask about any part of the service they are providing to us. How those people are getting remunerated or not shouldn't matter.

Agree totally.
Every member of the CG put his hand up, wrote a manifesto and said vote for me and this is what I'll try to do and how I'll try to go about it. If they subsequently drop the ball they should be called for it.
Every time your local MP breaks a promise or proves to be incompetent do you run for government office??
I'd like to think that the AoA is a bit more professional than that. How many voted for Rod's motion? All obviously unhappy with where the GC were headed. So what we want is 1000 people running for office at the next GC election??
No.
If you're unhappy you should have the right to say so.
Surveys shouldn't be the only means of communication between the members and the GC.

OK, so complain, bitch etc about the GC. You are entitled to. Go ahead and do it. It's your right!
While you are at it though please engage brain and think it through. You don't like what they are doing, how they are handling the situation, could offer suggestions maybe of a better/different approach? Excellent! Either don't vote for them next time or call a for a vote of no confidence right now. Opps, now we don't have a GC, sufficient of us members forced them out but are not prepared to stand ourselves. How has that assisted our cause? All very good to sit back and pass the buck saying 'they knew what they were getting themselves into so now you better perform or else…' while maintaining 'I don't have to stand for the GC to demand that they perform'. Hollow words if you now end up with no GC and no one to put the Members case to the Company.
