Boeing Takes Orders for 102 of Its Most Advanced Dreamliners (AL, BA, UAL)

That's almost as many -10 orders as the A350-1000 has received in over 7 years on offer.

Hmmm... maybe all those leasing companies understand the market.

To our 400 pilots scared of that nasty 330 conversion letter appearing in your mailboxes...I know you are still hanging in for that massive -800 order but if I remember right our CEO has said on numerous occasions "no quads"...

Hope to be proven wrong though but I think it aint gonna happen...

Interesting that Doric has ordered 20 A380 for Emirates. Are those new orders or are they taking airplanes Emirates already ordered and leasing them back to EK? What difference does it make you ask?

Well, it makes a huge difference... One represents confidence in the A380 and the global economy, the other does quite the opposite.

The A350 had its second and third flights yesterday.

Second flight completed the rest on the normal envelope. Went to max normal operating level, high and low speed, around 4.5 hours.

Third flight were circuits and approaches at various speeds and configurations.

The A350 will be going to the Paris airshow this week.

A350-900/1000 orders so far this week have have been placed by Air France/KLM (25), Sri Lankan (7), and Singapore Airlines (30).

The Doric orders are new orders. nothing to do with EK.

They have a special deal with Airbus to change the interiors to suit the leasing airlines cabin this will apparently be done by Airbus at a reduced cost or something in that order.

Sorry to disappoint you Exorcist

Not disappointed, but they are being leased to EK from what I read.

Have you got a link to that CX? As in a Bloomberg interview T C says that the order is not for him. Would be interested to see other views. He says he hasn't got enough gates for anymore until EK moves to the new airport.

United converted 25 of their A350-900 orders to A350-1000s, and added another 10 A350-1000s.

The A350 flypast at the Paris airshow has been confirmed for Friday afternoon at 1pm.

Don et al,

My mistake. I misread "has leased" for meaning these 20 A380s when it meant "has leased" for other leases in the past to EK. My apologies. So I would assume they are in fact new orders.

As usual, Airbus COO Customers John Leahy had some fighting talk for his rival “friends in Seattle” during his show wrap-up presentation. He said that over the last five years, the A350 had been selling 2:1 versus the Boeing 787 family and that the A330 was outselling the 787 by 3:1, including the newly-launched -10 variant.
“We have been outselling Boeing in the widebody market the past five years. Please don’t say Boeing dominates the widebody market. It’s not true. You are ruining my reputation,” he chided the press.

The current split is 55/45 in favor of Boeing. We'll see if that changes...

I see that JS was in Paris for the airshow. He wasn't part of any CX announcement so what was he doing there? Over-seeing the Doric announcement perhaps? Making a side trip to Toulouse to sign for something? Anyone know the whereabouts of our aircraft purchasing manager MS?

The Doric angle seems possible. Ala A346, a lease for a small number of A380.

Perhaps he's there taking a good hard look at 787-10 and/or 777X.

Maybe, he's just checking on the A350 program.

Most likely, he's just hob-knobbing at expensive dinners and parties at the OEMs expense. I can't imagine why I wasn't invited...

I think he is drinking expensive champagne at the Airbus and Boeing Chalets...as I said before, Cathay has never ordered at an airshow before.

By the way who is this? Hong Kong Aviation Capital (HKAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for 40 A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft. The agreement was signed at the Paris Air Show.

I'm guessing it's a new leasing company for KA, HKA, and/or Jetstar HK.

Or possibly for someone across the border.
