Private Flying in HK
Moving to Dongguan next month, have been working on U.S. PPL in the States, about 50 something hours. PPL Co-worker (Canadian) in S. China and I have both been discussing possibililtes of keeping up with at least flying skills, etc if not outright finishing PPL.
Obviously S. China, is out of the question, althought I know of one guy from Texas that managed to wangel his way into Chinese Military flying club. So, what are our options. HK Aviation club is one I know of. Co-worker is suggesting Macau, although I don't know what exists in the PPL world over there.
Any information, such as lowdown on HK Aviation Club, any other options would be appreciated. Other words, what's the scoop.

JAH,
Good luck in your search for GA in the S/China area, chicken lips and rocking horse s**t is easier to come by. I researched the butt out of the area and ended up doing my PPL and still subsequent jolly flying in the PI's, cheaper, unrestricted airspace. The club is great and has a few AC. You could finish your PPL there and convert it to whatever later (The PI's are ICAO members). In Manila there is one FAA CFII but he is expensive.
The HK club is expensive and hard to schedule flights (in tight airspace to boot).
Ref the guy from Texas, he mucks about with a club in Zhuhai that has a few C172R's run by some ex-PLAAF guys.
Hope this helps mate.
Rgds.
