No flight crews did walk around for this flight. And, most of cabin crews enjoyed mobile Internet in front of gate 32 during waiting for embarking. CX is no longer one of the best airlines in the world. Very sorry ......... One of my friend is now SO in CX though.....

I can guarantee you one of my colleagues would have done a walk around before departure. 100%.

You most likely missed them on the very crowded apron, we do look a lot like Engineers and other ground staff with the yellow high Vis jacket on ( covers the epaulettes ) especially if not wearing a tie. Unlike QF we do not wear Hats during the walk around either.

As to the cabin crew, who gives a rats what they do in the terminal BEFORE boarding the Aircraft? They haven't even started work at that point!!

Grow up.

It's about presenting a professional image in front of the pax and the cc failed to do so. Read the company handbook then, what do they say about once you don yourself in the uniform? I have to agree with samurai.

What do you expect them to do? As long as they were sitting there, and not disturbing anyone else, then what's the problem.

They're not there to look after you in the terminal, that's the ground staff's job.

Cathay, in their wisdom, don't even pay the new "hourly crew" the full hourly rate until departure, so during the pre-flight, they're only working for 50% of their published salary scale. They're getting paid $0 per hour whilst waiting in the terminal like that, so what do you expect.

(Note: That's HK$0/hr. As exchange rates fluctuate, I'll allow you to look up the exchange rate, and convert to whatever currency you use in your daily life)

And sorry, being a regular pax on ANA and JAL, I have never seen this kind of problem samurai raised. They are very professional before and after flight, even when waiting for their luggage; definitely very different from chatterbox texting cx cabin crew. One does not only do it for money.

Samurai, I'm just wondering how you knew this "walk-around" wouldn't happen, THE DAY BEFORE THE FLIGHT? You posted this on the 29th!

Any chance you could let us in on this weeks mark six numbers???

Hey Sami, were you at the gate monitoring every single ramp activity from the point the aircraft parked till the doors are closed? Maybe the cockpit crew was even more professional than you ever experienced elsewhere and have completed the walkaround BEFORE you dragged your sorry behind thru the shops to the gate!

As for cabin crew, what other airlines are you comparing with? QF? I have seen QF cabin crew stuffed down a huge juicy burger at the gate and made a big mess out of her uniform, surely that's professional. What they do in their own time is absolutely none of your f-ing businees, technically their job is there to ensure your safety during the flight, they don't even have to serve you food or drink if you ain't gonna die from starvation or dehydration. And just be glad you ain't travelling with a NA airline else you would probably get scolded at if not kicked off the aircraft for being a nosey little girl.

Hey hey now, I used to regularly stuff my burger into the occasional Hostie and I have left the odd one with a messy uniform!

Although I do not think that using their phones is anything bad, whilst wearing uniform in the public, they are representing the company and you have to know that wearing a uniform like that in an airport terminal attracts views. The way they act in public is scrutinised by the public. It is not their own "personal time" and when they do it in public then unfortunately it isn't only their business.

Yes, but unfortunately no one cares about the company's image, but their own image. Lets apply 5 more layers of powder before duty. So sick of that!
