The beginning of the end

Asia is falling.

JS and other senior managers in pacific place will receive a nice profit share, while common hard working employees will get nothing. The real story is the massive amount of money CX still put in the bank (free cash flow)...... well over $1 billion USD in 2012!

Looks like the writing is on the wall... time to get out while you can. Take the housing profit and run as fast as you can, because this Asian crash is going to be a shocker. I need a breath of fresh air (nigh to be found).

If you've been here more than 8 years, then you know it's true. Run along and follow the folks in Mong Kok around to a place called a 300 sq ft. apartment. Inflation will kill this job in HK, and fast!

Scaremongering? don't think so. Open your eyes.

20 years in CX and 10+ more to run bud.

Been there and seen most of the BS that HK can produce.

I don't care what you say, CX certainly does suffer a lot of staff/management problems but at the end of the day it ain't that bad, just be glad you don't work for a lot of other outfits.

Maybe Qantas would be better??? Oh hang a sec......

20 +, so you're in management, promoting the idea that this is a good place to work. brilliant, not!!!! Weve already reduced ourselves to recruiting young warm bodies that like the looks of airplanes.... the bar cannot go any lower.

Oooh, a slanging match!

20+ years means you're in management?

That would mean that there are around 300 managers on the 3rd floor: no wonder it's a shambles!!

No sorry, not a manager not even a TC. Just a lowly line driver who can see the Forrest for the Trees......can you Mr negative?

Oh and yes I agree we have lowered the bar a LOT. What can we do???

We don't control the bar, never have and never will.

Just be glad you work for a company with very DEEP pockets that is still expanding....try working for QF like a lot of my mates and then complain how hard you are treated....."no profit share" wow someone has lost touch...

20 years in CX

Me too Nitpicker but less than 10 to go. Don't need this young whippersnapper who obviously knows it all to tell me what I should know. We've seen all the cr@p that can be thrown at us and I ain't scared no more.

For the sake of his health, airplaneridesrfun should take his own advice "Looks like the writing is on the wall... time to get out while you can. Take the housing profit and run as fast as you can, because this Asian crash is going to be a shocker. I need a breath of fresh air (nigh to be found)."

Yes just like nobody said it could happen before 97 and let's not forget 08. Hong Kong is a bubble, it will pop one day, that day may be soon.

I'll give you some credit airplanerides, at least you're smart enough not to put a date on your vague predictions! Unlike poor Monster330:

http://www.pprune.org/fragrant-harbo...ml#post5463708

Or are you one and the same ?! Anyway, keep up those non-specific & infallible (given enough time) clairvoyant claims. If aviation doesn't work out, you could always start "Madame (or Monsieur) Mysterioso's Tarot Futures Hotline".

Regarding the impending Financial Mega-Apocalypse of Death, I predict that one day you will be correct!

OMG - maybe I'M clairvoyant TOO?!?

I can't wait for the crash. There might be some good bargain properties to pick up ala SARS.

Remind us, what happened after those bubbles popped? Did prices keep on falling so that HK is now one of the cheapest places in the World to live?

After the next crash they won't print money, printing money will be the cause of the forthcoming crisis. The only reason HK property has gone up is due to QE, nuff said.

Mate,

Its not about the housing market in HK mate, its much more about the sorry outfit of a so called airline that you happen to work for!! You'll do well in taking max advantage of the tossers, meaning get your type ratings and hours, don't pay to much attention to the w@nkers you fly with from time to time - basically just don't give a sh@t - call sick, go travel and have fun and then QUIT while you can! AND go a lot sick before you leave - and cash in yourself on that profit share that you never got!! It's all really easy actually

Nobody really needs Cathay Pathetic - some just hang around because they find other interests in life, besides from flying - fair enough, I guess.

BEYOND ALL - HAVE FUN - and when you do leave - trust me my friend, your ass well never look back to CX, don't worry.

What does Queen Elizabeth have to do with anything?

After the next crash, things will get better. It is inconceivable that things would stay in the doldrums forever. This isn't Zimbabwe! There are going to be 7+ million people who need housing, as simple as that and with a sort of half decent government who will stimulate the housing market, things are bound to go up again. All they have to do is give an open invite to mainlanders to come and buy again!

That makes sense, when this bubble blows just blow the sucker up again. Trouble is China is a fraud itself, there won't be the rich mainlanders coming over in the future, the china bubble is popping as we speak, just ahead of the hong kong one. Dead pigs in Chinese rivers is a perfect analogy for the state of this region. Lipstick on a pig anyone?

Hey, Superdud

Leave me out of this.
I'm going my own way.

Yeah, I was wrong about the timing, and yes some day it will happen.

But I'm not in this game pal. I prefer making in one month what you pilots do in one year.

Pick on someone else

M
