Australia base 744F (non CX)

Rumour on the Australia forum has QF possibly getting 744ERFs and direct entry crews, no idea on pay and conditions sounds like an ASL deal but may be the last chance to get an Australia base.

Last chance - that's what they want people to think. We've all seen the long term damage to our contract and conditions in CX arising from ASL, yet I bet there are people out there who are ready to bolt to this as soon as the gate opens. Never mind that they're lowing the benchmark for QF crews, and also the "market rate" (ha ha) that CX uses to justify our Aust base salaries.

The sad truth is that they'll probably have no problem finding willing applicants.

There seems to be no shortage of D bags willing to work for less. Mgmt will always win, because pilots are dumb. We will never learn.

Of course they will work for less. Tell me where a job is that pays more?

You can never leave a flying job for a higher paying job seniority put an end to that.

It's about lifestyle 20-30 yrs stuck in HK or for those with the right to live there the chance to go home.

But I'm holding out for a basing

You're right pilots are dumb!

QF

in 1989 QF did not support the AFAP pilot group. They flew alongside the Australian military to break the AFAP. What comes around goes around! A QF freighter out of OZ sounds good to me.
Cheers Skip.

In 1989 QF were never invited by the AFAP for their support. That's exactly what the Fat Man and Hawke wanted - kill both unions at the same time.

Thumbs down Point of clarification

"...They flew alongside the Australian military to break the AFAP"

As vile as the events of '89 were, please be careful when expressing it this way. This turn of phrase equates the military pilots involved in this incident to scabs, something any reasonable person knows is NOT true. Please don't confuse the scumbags who perpetrated this atrocity with unwitting and unwilling members of the ADF press ganged into a service they had no option but to undertake.

Sorry champ but you are wrong. The AFAP asked the QF union to support the AFAP and their response was " we do not fly domestically only 'international' and so you (domestic pilots) are different to us and so the dispute is not ours but yours". And they didn't support the AFAP. Easy cop-out! RAAF were ordered to fly against the AFAP. They had no choice. Interestingly all other unions in OZ watched on and remained silent watching the military working against a union.
Cheers Skip.

All the "strong arm militant" unions. (eg BLF, TWU, Painters & dockers, etc, etc, etc) Where were you when the military were used against a union??

(cue sound of crickets)
