KA Diversion
KA flight PVG-HKG yesterday diverted to Xiamen and landed with one engine shut down. How do the Chinese authorities handle something like this? Are they "in your face" straight away or do they let the company deal with it?
I hope it wasn't like Jetstar in PVG with an angry mob bailing up the crew and demanding compensation.

Xiamen would be an excellent diversion choice. The popular belief is that Chinese aerodromes would end up being a nightmare for a diversion. This 99% of the time is untrue. We recently had a 777ER go into ZGGG due min fuel. Toped the tanks up to the required level, and out again in around 45min. The same has happened @ Xiamen for both fuel and tech.

Hong Kong-bound flight diverted to Xiamen after engine failure - What's On Xiamen
An Airbus 330-300 passenger aircraft is equipped with two engines on each side so it is very dangerous when one engine stops working as the plane will lose 50% of its power on one side and equal thrust will be impossible.
