ETOPS240, sorry, I wasn't speaking literally, but out of exasperation, as all Airbus pilots would be fully aware that this this an Airbus problem.
I'm also not denying the C & T team their long-hauls either. If they are the more senior pilot with a request for a long-haul, then by all means that flight should go to them - and train on it by all means.
But, when ALL of the long-haul sectors, (which are extremely sought after by every single Airbus pilot for obvious reasons) are taken to train SO's - when it is not operationally necessary - then understandably the rest of the pilots get quite upset.
I am used to getting at least one long-haul per month, I have not seen a long-haul flight for the past 3 - 4 months due to SO training, and it is killing me. Imagine 100 hours a month of Middle East and India, with a couple of Jakarta through the night sectors thrown in?

C & T must be on leave
Being entitled to bid for, and achieve, leave out of seniority because mgmt decided they needed a carrot to entice c n t's to stay, appears to be an abrogation of line skippers CoS.
Unless this sits well with everyone, just how has this remained unchallenged?
