I think its the astronaut lady. Pitty they probably tortured a whole lot of disidents and made a million women have a forced abortion on the way...never mind all of the displaced villagers and the millions of dollars that were stolen by the government officials...yes well done China!!!

Don't you mean

Thank you, Australia?

Oz foreign aid to China is about 2bn per year. Coincidentaly, China spends aproximately the same amount on its space programme.

Oh, I know it's not the same bits of paper, but still interesting...

Reminder:

I think it is time to remind some of you Fragrant Harbour dim wits of the big sign at the entrance to China's space centre. Written in both Chinese and English in large red characters and words the sign says---- " Without Haste-Without Fear-We Conquer the World "

Wash that down with your meat pies and pavlova.

O.P.

big deal

just under half a century after Valentina Tereshkova.

In a more or less license built (or shall we say copied) soviet spacecraft.

I'm ever so slightly underimpressed.

Yes it should read : with corruption, intimidation and Fear we will conquer the world! oh yes and it should also say that with 1.4 billion Chinese that don't know how to wait in line, while holding their Gucci bag, we will come and pillage your country!!!

We could always get onto their bizarre air traffic control system. If that's their idea of 'conquering the world' I don't think we have much to worry about.

Not to mention the rich/poor divide, environmental problems, the inevitable end of their one-party rule etc etc...

Culture:

Further to my mention of meat pies and pavlova others ( apart from ockers ) may be interested to know that Australians are pushing the outlandish claim that they invented pavlova. How to eat the national dish (meat pie ) is known by all in Australia as they are taught at an early age to hold the pie 15 degrees front edge up so that when biting into it gravy and meat will not drip onto ones shirt. Not a lot of culture down south and by all accounts culture loss is getting worse.

O.P.

Yes where as in China children are apparently not taught how to eat so what evolves is a nation of people who suck food into their mouth, chew and talk with their mouth open for everyone to see and the resultant pieces of gristle and bone are then spat back onto the plate.

Im affraid to say, but there is not much culture going on in China! Maybe i should just say "class" yes there is no class with the mainland chinese people we are seeing around the world. They are just one generation away from the farm!

Just because you have a louis vitton bag, it does not give you class. Just because you can send a spaceship into space. It does not make you supperior.

The government cannot even be truthfull about the polution in their own capital city. You can launch a spaceship, but you cannot mention the 4th June...forced abortions...air quality...etc etc!

Is that all you got OP? Meat pies ? What ? You don't mention torturing animals and humans alike, destroying the air, earth and water in the name of the dollar and making dishonesty a profession.
Yep, I eat meat pies ( not dogs ) and proud of it.
Yes you will take over the earth one day by sheer numbers, a bit like a locust plague.

BTW, the US put a man on the moon 43 years ago, way to go China, what ever will they think of next.

If it wasn't for China fooey, you would be out of a job.

Now that you are back in the land of nirvana, time to change back to your old username and move on. Unfortunately that airbus command has evaded you, but the Fokker left seat is definitely a positive career move!

Good luck, enjoy and let go, you might keep your medical a little longer.

" Come to Dinner "

SloppyJoe and Hongkongfooey;

You two gentlemen need educating. Are you aware that a close second to the Australian pie eaters is the Australian national social event of the "come to dinner " barbecue. ( called a barbie ) If you have ever been to one of these funtions then you will know that the most enchanting things about them ( apart from the dress code of shorts, singlets and thongs ) is that beer is consumed from the bottle or can and you dont get a serviette or napkin with your plate. There is no such thing as a clean glass in Australia and greasy fingers are the norm.
I cant make up my mind if your lot have simply deteriorated to your present state or that you have always been Neanderthals.

Do you guys really think that Mainland china is that great? Do they not have major problems as well?
Yes you are probably right when you say that we will not have a job if it was not for the mainland. That does not mean that I must accept and agree with what the mainland Chinese comrades are doing.

Do you agree and accept what happened on the 4th June all those years ago. Do you think that the way they try to control what people are thinking and doing is correct? Do you think that the corruption that is going on there is ok?

Do you truly do not see what is actually happening across the border? Do you really think that sending up a women on a spaceship is a great achievement when at the same time they are forcing women in having abortions!

Do you enjoy it when a mainland bus load of visitors come and push your kids on to the busy streets because they have this sense of entitlement of "we can do what the hell we want because we are mainlanders".

If that is what makes you feel proud for them, well so be it, but please do not try to make me feel the same way as you do!
