HKA Maintenance

Rumor has it that HKA has lost its MRO service provider due to unpaid bills and are trying to handle their own Maintenance.

Think it's more to do with HKA running out of cash. Apparently, CASL are considering the contract, but aren't enthusiastic!

Apparently US$20million+ is owed and they have a month to pay it before the courts get involved. The deadline has already been extended to this one month this week after partial payment.

Heard tonight a HKA pilot tell the tower that they had "Contractual Issues" when the tower queried why their tug had driven off before they had used it after they had a small delay.

Obviously not, if you owe someone lots of money.

Despite the continuous cries of poor from our superstar management, if HKA/Hainan look like failing, or start moving to a major downsizing, CX will be circling the carcass like vultures, looking to pick up some cheap aircraft & production line slots.

Unfortunately much of what HKA has on order is not really what CX would want apart from A350s and with demand worldwide high for 350s I doubt any slots would be at much of a bargain although the slots in themselves would be in demand. HKA do not currently operate any aircraft that CX would want either and as for suddenly picking up HKA's business, considering where they fly to and how often and the yields of those passengers I don't think it would make much difference either!

A330s for CX or KA???? (yes, I know they are -200s, and some freighters)

Do HKA have any more A320s or A330s on order?

Corruption, funny!
What else could possibly happen if tickets cost nothing, you have no passengers, and you're getting paid peanuts??

Exactly, they are 332s and I can't see CX taking on a different type.
HKA's A320s have the wrong engine types and again, with plenty of A320s around the world with the correct engine types available, I can't imagine why KA would take on the ex HKA ones. Its not like KA couldn't get IAE powered A320s at short notice if they wanted anyway...and besides, HKA only have two A320s....hardly a windfall!

I do believe there are more A330s coming for HKA and maybe some -300s as well but again, CX can fairly easily obtain more if they just paid Airbus...those slots HKA hold aren't particularly valuable.

Engine covers on at least 3 of their A330s on the freight ramp.
Looks ominous.

CASL has taken their maintenance contract, but they don't have the man power or the tugs to handle them. Heard that refuellers are not refueling some flights.

Guess they don't accept AMEX

By the looks of it things aren't going well over there, and it sure does seem like a lot of fun to take the p!ss out of HKA.
Perhaps we should just step back slightly and spare a thought for the worker bees and their families in these uncertain times....

F One ~ you're referring to all those who got fair warning from all of us who worked there previously? Not a chance. F'ck em. They had all the info and made a bad decision.

I'm always curious what HKA did to all you ppl and family members. What is the benefit for you ppl if HKA go bust? Love more, dont hate more. Life is short.

Cheers,

Yeah a bit harsh, not everybody had the luxury of refusing the job...

Nasty people.

Good luck to all the boys and girls at HKA.

The last thing any of us need is more unemployed Pilots flooding the market driving down T and C's again. It's in all of our interests to have a healthy industry. So positive thoughts people!!
