Unpaid Leave - How About Our Annual Leave First

Before the company starts offering unpaid leave they better start giving out paid leave.

I have been given 2 weeks out of six and its in Jan 2013. Leave points are over 100 and cant get a single week in 2012?????

Give me my f@cking annual leave first. Oh, that's right you can't because we are so short of pilots on the 777.

Hopefully the four Indians/Pakistanis they managed to hire will help the situation?

Now if we can just get the same conviction from the other 2697 pilots...

Seriously, the company has everyone talking like we are in a dire financial condition. Far from it, even if we do have to park some old gas guzzlers. Big deal. They were gonna go sooner or later anyways.

I think this speaks to the efficacy of the CX PR machine. The way they frame the conversation speaks to our ignorance as a labour group.

Let's start taking a poll: Who will accept or not accept SLS again?

I'm firmly in the NOT column. next...

Compared with how I'm feeling about this, I consider Larry to be "on the fence" on this one!

The question is not who will say NO now on Pprune. The question is how many will say NO when there is a carrot attached like a commuting roster contract. Also, how many will still say NO after their "no intimidation" meeting with the fleet office to make sure they really meant to say NO.

I will happily take some unpaid leave. History has shown that I will probably get paid back in full so why not get some extra time off. What is everyone complaining about? Oh yeah, captains got paid back for all but 3 days last time, don't worry you can make it back as get an extra 10 years at the top rank.

If they try it again they'll struggle to get many from the pilot group to sign up for it unless they sign off the 25 year housing that was agreed last time around.

SLS is just a management game:
"Look how clever I am. We had this problem and I managed to help fix it".
"Yes, well done you - have a promotion / bonus".
2nd time:
"Look we have this problem and I managed to help fix it"(best I don't just copy the last guy but change it somehow in a really clever and original way)
"Yes, well done you - have a promotion / bonus... and btw I loved your twist on a theme, shows you're thinking out of the box!"

I took SLS last time and the time before. The first time because it seemed necessary, the second because I fancied an extra 3 weeks paid leave. Next time I'll have to bite my nose off to spite my face and not take it as they've proved themselves to be untrustworthy. A sad state of affairs.

I didn't take it first time round....

And when asked why I didn't (from a manger {sic!}) I said because I didn't think it was justified and that is my decision.

So there you are.

I do put up (and out).

Now I'll shut up!

I can see it now, they will offer 25 yr housing again in exchange for sls II. The first one must have been practice.

1.) I don't know why we are even discussing this as the sky isn't falling. I think the first two SLS rounds, it did in fact seem the world was ending.

2.) If the world was falling apart here is something to consider: The 3rd floor justifies our pay rates based on things not being great all the time. Therefore, the way I view it, our scales already are set to accommodate a downturn. RH specifically said during the pay review that it would be irresponsible of the company to pay us based on good times so I'll interpret it that we are presently paid to handle the bad ones.

I agree, can't believe you lot are talking about SLS.

If you found out the company had around 20+ billion in cash reserves sat in the bank, would you do SLS?
