So why can Victoria Beckham (or someone pretending to be her) sit in a seat that is only reserved for operating crew or qualified crew?? This is what the story should be about.

... and the second pilot did not leave the cockpit, the jumpseat guys came out to help restrain the crazy passenger but by the time they opened the door...
...Is that a first person account or something you picked up on the jungle tom tom... ?

Even if this is fairly accurate... sterile means sterile... should the the j/s pax be opening cockpit doors and demonstrating heroics... ?

It did happen, maybe he was indeed one of the " heroes "

Looks like this official statement by Cathay Pacific as reported here indicates the two passengers were indeed officially thanked. I am not sure if he was offered first clas travel for life though.

What I don't get was how the green eye monsters surfaced so fast and early in the thread.

Unruly passenger injures flight attendant

April 23, 2012, 9:12 amAAP
A 52-year-old Filipino man has been charged with disorderly conduct, after a crew member was assaulted on a Cathay Pacific flight, reports say.

Cathay Pacific Airways says a passenger assaulted a crew member on a Bangkok-to-Hong Kong flight before being restrained by two passengers and other staff members.
The Hong Kong airline said in a statement that a female flight attendant was slightly injured in Monday's incident and hospitalised briefly.
Cathay thanked the two passengers, who were slightly injured but did not need to go to hospital. The other 398 passengers and 16 crew members aboard were not hurt.
Hong Kong newspapers reported that a 52-year-old Filipino man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Regarding Mrs Beckham

Despite her husband playing for the "wrong" Manchester side, I think it is a great photo and a few people need to step outside and have a word with themselves.

I don't recall reading in the Telegraph the world stopped revolving because Mrs Beckham sat in a Crew Seat in flight. We accuse our cabin crew of being robots, however when they show a bit of initiative we publicly rebuke them. Drop the PC nonsense, Mrs B is one of the most recognized faces on the planet and if she is prepared to engage in some light hearted fun, enjoy it....!!

For those involved, for what it's worth I say "well done" and cherish the photo. As for putting the photo on the street, what do you think Richard Branson would do, project it on the side of Hello Kitty City perchance?

Have to agree with Liam. How ridiculous this world is getting, and Cathay seems to follow it right along instead of calling BS? While I am not surprise, I find it all so fake outrage it is sickening.

Well, I guessed they thought a Mongolian could never have done it, only a swashbuckling hollywood type could.

This thread has now quietly spun into something about a sorry washed up ex spice girl in need of the idolatory of equally washed up flyboys.

The fact is that the Mongolian gentleman was indeed instrumental in sudueing the offender and all those " boll**ckers " should now eat their words.

When I wrote "total bollo**s" I was indicating that the situation never happened in the first place. Not that a Mongolian chap couldn't save the day. I was wrong, although the original article referenced doesn't give an accurate account of what actually took place.

It was the whole First Class flights for life thing that made me think this was a load of nonsense.

Well done to all involved, whether they be Mongolian, Eurasian, Green or Henry Tang.
