American Airlines and Hainan Airlines sign codeshare agreement
Dec 08, 2011 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- American Airlines AMR announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a codeshare agreement with Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines, based in Beijing.
Under the agreement, which is subject to government approval, the two airlines will codeshare on each other's flights and offer their frequent flyer members new opportunities to earn and redeem miles/points, while providing new growth opportunities for American in China and for Hainan Airlines in the United States.
Hainan is a Skytrax 5-Star airline operating over 2,800 weekly flights to 40 cities throughout China and international destinations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
American currently operates nonstop service to China in three markets: Chicago O'Hare-Beijing, Chicago O'Hare-Shanghai and Los Angeles-Shanghai.
