We're not recruiting first officers at the moment, so why would you ask? New joiners start as second officer cadets on a new, much reduced pay scale. There are no first officers on this pay scale so no one can answer your question. Contact the recruitment department at CX for further information.

Bueno Hombre "What other choice does he have except feeding our chickens..."
Bueno Hombre, as your son is evidently quite familiar with chicken feed, he should be an ideal candidate for the CX cadet scheme.
Although as he is also the family "taxi" driver perhaps he could get work driving a taxi in Hong Kong - it might pay more than CX!

SO Chooka, on the way!
A qualified chicken feeder might be above the standard CX now require. ALTHOUGH his theory of flight might be ahead of the other applicants. Is your son named "Chooka," by any chance? If so, and he shows the same talent as this lad, he may also get a spot doing a free promo , for THE COMPANY.

Bob you are so right! Chooka is the man for the job. He might even breathe some life into the Gay Bar. But he would probably make better money busking at the TST MTR station.

Dan Buster,
Thanks, just doing my due diligence. Do you have a ball park figure inclusive of allowances etc.
Do they pay from day one or have they stooped that low they only pay you when you arrive in HK?
Cheers

Times have changed, you have to effectively use your own money in order to live in HK and have the privilege of being the bunk maker in chief, and LOIC of the sandwiches and blue bag.
So if you are independently wealthy, no problems at all, come on in, the water's lovely and warm.

The actual dollar figure on it's own could be very misleading for you. Just as $1000 a week sounds like a good pay check in some countries like India or Vietnam might be considered excellent, but in a major US or Aussie city its below average.
Just as the dollar amount for rent in a city where a two bedroom, two bathroom flat in a nice building in the city is $5k US a month (Which it is in Hong Kong), is no comparison to most other places. All of a sudden your thousand bucks a week means you can't even put a roof over your head.
You need to be doing a lot of homework before pursuing a "Career" as a Pilot in Hong Kong. Not least of which should include "what sort of place is it like to work" there are an awful lot of unhappy Pilots at Cathay.

However, as a first job with no experience the starting salary and prospects are quite good. Sure the pay starts low but it steadily increases and very few get fired even if they do almost zero work or professional study. How many professions pay you so much for so little?

The ballpark is between not enough and 'Are you sure the decimal is in the right place?'.
But don't let that discourage you. It certainly didn't discourage all these guys who are now wearing red lanyards at dispatch because they eventually found out they can't afford to have kids.
