Don't worry, they'll go to Air Hong Kong or maybe Air China. So no change to the CX 777 roster!

Unless you're on a NA base. Fly to hkg, do a day return (NA time), suck up the hours and go to work less than twice a month. Bring them on.

It seems that suddenly another huge % of the pilots will now finally care about the freighter rostering issues and and have a huge stake in the RP loopholes and terrible patterns and practices of freighter operations.

The time to get serious about fixing this stuff is right now. I believe everyone already knows how bad life can be on the 747 and how bad it could be on the 777 if nothing is taken care of right now.

If you are not yet highly motivated to push for massive RP changes and do what is necessary to get the changes we need and want, please go drink beer with 747 FOs, as most CNs don't do much freighter flying right now with all the freighter CNs around, and 747 SOs only do the occasional ANC.

Exclamation

With the global economy crisis on its way, wouldn't having more 777 better than SLS??

Aren't freighter rostering issues only applicable if you signed a FREIGHTER CONTRACT?

now they have ordered -200s i could see the possibility of converting the 5 other -200s to freighters.
no idea if thats possible but they did struggle to sell them.

How can we expect to improve issues with Freighter Ops & Rostering when guys don't even know the basics of their own COS & AFTL's.

At the moment there is no approved conversion for 777s to freighters although Boeing have looked into it in the past. There is not enough 'feedstock' to make this program viable at the moment. The figures Boeing previously released was for the 777-200 (non-ER version as we have) to be a 60-odd tonne freighter. Not sure if this would interest CX or not compared to the 77Fs ordered which are over 100 tonnes.

Geh065,

It is more about volume than weight for regional sectors. For this reason, I believe a conversion program will eventually happen. However, the 400 BCFs have been a disappointment performancewise. So CX is probably skeptical about investing heavily in another BCF program.

I believe eventually there will be a conversion program too but not in the next few years. The investment aerospace companies need in order to launch a program like this requires both a market for the freighters and planes to feed the market. The demand I suspect is there already but there are no spare 777s to feed the market at the moment. The only 777s on the market have been the CX 772s and some Singapore 777-200ERs and 777-300s. Certainly not enough to feed a BCF line.

It is for this same reason that the Russian/Airbus joint venture to start an A320 conversion line was scrapped, and there are certainly a lot more spare A320s then 777s but obviously still not enough. The first A320 had even arrived at the factory already for conversion!

Unless there is a major market downturn that bankrupts a major 777 operator, I don't think we will see a conversion line for at least nearly 10 years.

Iron skillet. Well said!

It's a numbers game. The more people 'suffer' on freighter pattern the quicker
we will see full credit for PX sectors. In about 5 months there are no more freighter only F/O's. and in 3-5 years we will have only about 30-50 freighter only C/N left.

Brown nose. You are a space cadet. I suggest your academic background is from north London. Wouldn't like to put my family dog on your airplane. You are a living proof the demise of quality on CX flight decks is in full swing.
