Joburg - the Lion Whisperer
For those of you flying to Joburg I recommend you take a day to visit the Lion Park – it is only 20 minutes from your hotel in Fourways

watch this – do not try this at home
then afterwards go to the nearby Carnivore restaurant 10 minutes drive away to try the impala, gemsbok, croc, giraffe, wildebeest etc (and beef and chicken and lamb for the less adventurous) Yesterday we had kudu also.

Just make sure it is a DAY TRIP. I have said it before and I will say it again, do not drive back from Pilanesberg at night. That road is exceptionally dangerous, wild animals and crazy/drunk local drivers returning from Sun City.
Second the Lion Park though, great for a day out !

Sandton hotel to Lion Park wil take you 30 minutes, stay 2 hours there then go to Carnivore 15 minutes away, start with the Dawa (double vodka with honey in ice.)
Nearer to Sandton go to the Joburg zoo - best in the world.
Also just done the Cape Town visit (Cape Escape Tours - Patrick )
talk about clean air at Cape Point, 35 kms visibility across white pointer hunting zone False Bay, seals at Hout Bay , theh there is the Winelands tour starting via the Spier winery cheetah and eagle farm to Stellenbosch. Flew out of Lanseria on Kulula.com (SA's Ryanair)
As for Pilanesberg you can actually stay there in a camp if you want. We are doing one day tour on Friday with EB Tours / Robb Edgecomb.
