VIRGIN Australia has joined Qantas in suspending all domestic and international flights in and out of Melbourne as a plume of volcanic ash drifts across from South America.

Sunday 12th: At least one SYD flight cancelled supposedly for 'volcanic ash'; funnily enough it was also lacking a full crew. The cancelled SYD flight's captain was called out at late notice as relief on the MEL flight which was also lacking full crew but, also funnily enough, was not cancelled due to 'ash'. It operated to MEL normally.
