notifying atc of "security situation"
last night around midnight i heard one of the american freight outfits contacting hk radar with their position and flight level and then added something like "security situation normal." the hk atco was confused and asked him to say again, to which he replied "we were advised by the chinese to say security situation when we contact you." the atco ended up ignoring the remark and gave him his vector etc as usual.
does anyone know anything about this?

When flying into Shanghai recently during Expo, their ATC always ask "confirm security situation normal?" to which everyone replied affirm/yes. (Wonder what they would do if we said no?) From memory they asked this question going into Beijing during the Olympics as well.
As for HKG airspace, I don't believe there is any requirement to advise all is ok which would explain the confusion from HKG ATC.

ACT700, no of course not, but why go putting these sort of things on a public forum, especially under the title of "security situation". Why not post all the ACARS messages too?
Heaven forbid it should happen, but if I should ever need to use it, I hope to be able to discretely set said code. If everyone knows, then it makes it just that bit harder correct?

Ever noticed the call to shanghai re security situation is on 128.75?
I don't know how, but that's what you can hear with HK.
Edit: woops, wrong. It's in the HK notams.
